Finally got busted for tint :(
After about a year or having tint on my car, I finally got pulled over by a pig who was having a slow day
Does anyone know an officer who could sign off on the ticket for me?

i feel you on this one.
except i got pulled like 1 month after having them on
still havent put them back on yet. (planning on doing so when i get my kit installed)
anyways what was your tint visibility %?
mine was 15%
and literally the cop only pulled me for tint and no front plate. LAME!

I don't wanna sound rude but don't you think calling an officer a 'pig' and then trying to find an officer who will sign it off is a bit much?

cops around here are fierce. at least u got pulled for no front license plate (got that ticket in brea), i got a ticket for just the tint in diamond bar.
but ya... i got pulled over a year after i had my tint... just when the summer was about to start (and having a tint would be really beneficial).

windshields are a no no!!...
youre just instigating a ticket with that....
if i was a cop, id have given you a ticket too...
im runnin with tint, but only 35 on the front windows and 20 on the rear and sides..
cops need to be able to see into the car if they have to pull it over...too many cops are gettin shot...
i have never gotten stopped in the 3 years ive had tint...
and you need to have a little more respect for them...they might save your life one day

I'll respect them more when I have a reason to. I've been wrongfully arrested, and been harassed way too many times to have any respect left for them. I'm not saying they're all bad, I've had some funny moments with the few that are light hearted and are generally interested in helping people, but a majority of the ones I've come across were dicks.

It may be a perception of age. I don't know how old you are, but sometimes when you look young, they are more willing to pull you over.
It also has a function of where you live and what you've done to the car.
I've had a fully modified car for three years, and like Skinka, never been pulled over. I run no front plate and have very light tint all the way round.
Down here in Socal, you can guarantee yourself a ticket in the Diamond Bar, Brea, and Huntington Beach areas.....officers in those areas deal with teenage kids all the time, have nothing else to do since crime rates are low....and I think they just get off giving tickets to kids.....

He didn't notice the tint on the headlights lol. I live in a pretty chill area, I think this guy was just getting bored cause nobody was in the carpool lane by themselves, they cops here love that.
I honestly think he was bummed that he didn't get me for something serious, I dunno. At any rate it's cheaper to take the tint off and have it replaced, so I'll probably just end up doing that,

Funny I got pull over by a highway patrol (polar bear) on 580 in Livermore for the exact same thing 3 days ago. I was cruising around 68 as he was getting on the freeway right next to me, next thing I know he was on my tail with the red light. After I pull over, I immediately roll down both front windows before he even walked up. I put both hands on the wheel so he can see them. He said after getting all my informations that it is illegal to have any tint on the front windows.
Funny things was after he return back from his car, he only wrote me up for not having my new 2008 stickers on the license plate. His exact word were " I am not going to write you up for the tinted window, so you don't have to take them off until next time you get pull over by another highway patrol officer." Of course I laugh and thank him for what he is doing.
Hopefully this fix it ticket will only cost me $10. Next time if any CHP are around me, my windows will be all the way down. BTW my tint were 20% rear 35% front.

Thats a bunch of BS guys. Just follow these state legal guide lines and you will be ok. And it is legal to have the driver's front window tinted. I used to tint windows as a side business and I have heard some pretty fooked stories about cars that had thier windows tinted to dark.
On guy got into a bad accident, I think a person died as of result of injuries. To make a long story longer the insurance claims adjuster looked at the car involved in the accident and because the tint was over the state limit. And because the accident occurred at night he wasn't covered by his policy.

After market window tint is illegal and dangerous- In California
California Vehicle Code Section 26708 states;
No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows.
There is an exception to the rear windows.
California gets most of there vehicle mechanical laws from the federal standards. 1 reason that this law was written: Tint obstructs the drivers view, mainly at night. I have actualy seen people role down there windows so they could see to back out of a parking spot. If you have tint and it is dark outside, you might not be able to see a blacked out car or a pedestrian coming at you from the side, also other drivers/pedestrians can not make eye contact with you during the day.
Another problem is that the tint film causes the glass to stay in large pieces during an accident instead of the tiny pieces. Any body want a large piece of glass coming at there head after you were hit by the blacked out car being driven by a drunk driver? Not me. Oh, you did not see the car coming because your windows were tinted, ouch.
You can legaly get the 70% (light transmitted through the tinted glass) as long as it is glazing, not a film applied and it meets federal safety standards. I am not sure what are stock cars have but my guess is that it is close to the legal limit.
