FS: SSR Comp 18x8.5" wheels + Azenis 615 255/40 tires

I intend to swap out to a wider tire in order to prevent turbo-induced wheelspin. It probably won't happen for a couple months but I wanted to see if anyone was interested in purchasing my current wheels. Wheels do not have any curb rash and new from TireRack cost $475. They are no longer available and weigh just under 17 lbs each.

Tires should have more than half the treadwear left but will not be mounted on the wheel since I have to pull the TPMS sensors out.

No TPMS sensors included.

Update: There are some other websites that still have them in stock at $475. I also forgot one of the wheels has some scratches in a lug socket--one of the lugs stripped and that area got scratched taking it out.

I can upload pictures later. I don't know what a fair price would be. Part of the reason for this thread is to see who might be interested in buying them from me, and the other part is to see what people might consider a fair price.

Not to be an ***, but the rules unfortunately demand a posted price for FS. I may have a buyer 4U. PM me if you want his email.

Based on a formula carbonRX8 provided, it seems like a fair asking price for wheels alone is around $1550 + shipping. What does everyone think?

So are you selling in a couple months?

I might be interested in the tires, but knowing you and autocrossing there might no be a lot of tread left by then lol.

TeamRX8 sold a set of 18X8 SSR comps that were used once for like $1500. Seems like a good price for wheel AND tires but to high for just used wheels.

Ideally I will purchase new wheels in January, assuming they are available. There are no autocrosses between now and then so additional tire wear should be minimal.

I don't know if it's fair to compare 18x8 prices to 18x8.5 prices. And I was asking what is fair, not what is good for the buyer.

Yes we should not compare the 8.5 to the 8. After all the extra $10 per wheel to go from the 8 to the 8.5 makes a big difference in resale. What is the advantage with the extra .5" wheel over the 8"? No stock class autox guys can use an 8.5". In STU, BSP or SM you are going to want 9.5" or wider so you can run 275-285 tires. I guess the 8.5"s will make great street wheels.

Don't bitch if you are going to post in this section and troll for a buyer rather than actually put them up for sale with a posted price in the For Sale section. If you ask for opinions on what they are worth you may not always like the answer.

I have no idea what the difference in list price for the two wheels is/was, which is why I made that statement.

Max recommended tire width on an 8" wheel is 245 (TireRack). Max recommended tire width on an 8.5" wheel is 255. And yes, the 8.5" make good street wheels.

I wasn't bitching, which is why I put the smiley at the end. I'm "trolling" (as you put it) because I want to see if anyone local might be interested when I plan to sell them. And since I don't know what fair value might be, I asked for opinions. Remember that $1550 was based on a formula someone else provided. I did not come up with that number by myself.

I dont think I have to defend myself but I will for clarity, education and discussion.

I quoted a price that I would ask for as a unbiased seller, you want to sell to a friend, you "pay" for that friendship with a lower price. Also, when you sell, it behooves you to price what you are selling for what it is worth.

So, to that end, these wheels are desireable and rare. Until, SSRs come back into stock (if they do) you pay for the lack of supply.

$1500 is a good starting price IMO for these particular wheels, I would offer RIGHT NOW even knowing that I have a set of wheels on order, $900 shipped. I think the starting price is right in line with my offer. It is a good starting point.

You guys may not realize but the thread above is a negotiation for the price of the wheels.
