Galpin Mazda in the SVC is the WORST

I took my car in for a oil change, creaky seat, rought idle, fix the door ding that THEY DID LAST TIME IT WAS IN THERE, and an estimate on new tires.

Oil change done.

Creaky seat.....normal ? WTF? It did not do it when it was new. Other dealers can fix it.

Rough idle.....normal, more so with Borla. I don't think so. It started with the "m" flash

door ding. They claim that it came it with it. Bullshit.

new tires estimate...nope

Time to sell the car. Mazda customer service is horrible. I was so pissed that I do not want the car anymore. I will never take it to them for service again. They have lost a customer.

Time for a C6

sorry to hear that, i know how you feel. I asked them to check out the rough idle and my rattling steering wheel but I had to pay like 50bucks to get it diagnosed. I didnt take it.

Yeah, they do suck. Just completely full of it.

I wrote their fleet department for a quote, they said they could only give "internet quotes" on the phone.

I called, they said they could only give quotes in person.

I mean, wtf??

What is the story with your rough idle(s)?

I have that with mine and I'm wondering if it contributes to my HORRIBLE gas mileage (which is about 13.5 mpg of mixed driving).

hmm the rough idle has nothing to do with my mileage. I get a consistent 18mpg no matter how i drive.

the rough idle I am talking about is when the car is in N and no gas is applied and the car is stopped. The gear shift is moving and vibrating and at some point the car feels like it is going to stall.

Galpin has really ruined my enjoyment of the car. Mazda build quality has ruined my enjoyment of the car. Mazda is the only car company that I know about that would mail a letter to owners asking them to get their ecu's flashed AND THEN FIND THAT IS WAS A BAD FLASH. I am just waiting for the second mailing saying I will need to take my car back to the dealer to get another reflash.

My car had no issues like the other owners I got great milage but since the reflash to m2 or n, it has dropped a lot. My damn Ferrari gets better milage. I have been driving that to work for about a week because I am so fed up with the Mazda. I think when the C6 comes I will make that my daily and turn the 8 into a track car. I wish there was a great dealer that will pick up my car for service and fix all the little things that are wrong with it. I am tired of the center console breaking. I am tired of the cupping tires, I am tired of the seat creaking, I am tired of the rough idle, I am tired of pissing cash away on gas when it was fine before, I am tired of the goddamn front door hitting me on the back when I open the rear door (my driveway is at a slant), I am just tired of the car.

Mazda is no help. All I get from the dealer is "that's normal" or "No problem found".

People use to ask "how do you like your car?" and I would say I loved it. Now I say you can have it for $50 and a box of ho-ho's

I'll give ya $100 and a box of ho-ho's and a box of twinkies! :D

I do feel your pain though. I've never had good luck with the car, but I still love it.

I've got a good 3 rattles that just drive me insane. (Passenger front door panel, back window AREA, and a newly recent one I can't quite find)

Rough Idle? I thaught just about everyone had this issue. My car has always had that.

Hard Starts even after the flash, the list really does go on........

But I still find myself getting in my car and driving at 2 AM with my music up as loud as I can stand to not hear the creaks and rattles.

As for SCV Galpin Service, I've had my car in there a good number of times, they have even done the sqeeling brake TSB twice, and twice they replaced the brakes for me. Most dealerships wouldn't do it twice.

Hey Bane.

I asked them to check the TSB on the brakes and I got the deer in the headlights look from Jason. I have the same rattles as you. I am going to assume that the unidentified one you are talking about is by a airvent/a pillar?

PS. I was the one at the shell station in the Ferrari.

Ya I remember'd you.

I'm not quite sure where the rattle is just yet, but in that general area, yes.

I am probably gonna bring my car in to have those rattles checked, I've had the passenger door rattle when I baught the car and they actually fixed it in Colorado for a few weeks to a month or two, but now it is back and even louder. It makes a sound like I have a blown speaker.

I guess the rattle and idle problems are problems for everyone here.
Galpin service actually worked on that passenger side door pannel rattle I had... end up coming back and bothering me everyday.
Oh wells, some people like me have to live through that while some can get rid of it by just getting rid of the car. either way. we all got this car with a dear love of rotary, right?

Jason doesn't really know whats going on. We know more about the TSBs than they do.

Hey samsonite1, I feel your pain and disgust. I'm going to "deal" with the problems until I hit 50k miles, then she's gone. I picked that mileage for warranty reasons even though I don't know what that actually means... yeah I have a "warranty" but if nothing is ever fixed, what's the use.

Here's my current list:

Squeaky brakes
Rattle in sunroof
Rough idle
Car almost stalls when cold
Well below average gas mileage

I placed a deposit on a C6. It will be here in March or April sometime. I will live with it until then I guess. Or make it a track car. I think I will dump it. It's paid off so I am just hoping to get $20k for it so I don't take a complete bath on it.

Did you try contacting Mazda US HQ? Maybe they could have done something to mediate this issue.

I have called them twice. They are very nice and helpful but they always refer me back to the Service Manager and I am tired of dealing with him. I guess I really should not fault the staff. They are only as good as the management there.

I am so with you, just about every one of your complaints, I can second. The door in the back is so true. My garage has narrow parking spaces and so whenever I get my daughter out of the back seat I end up poking myself in the shoulder blade. I have been to three Mazda dealers all with poor to fair results. I too am ready to throw in the towel.

I wish I had your budget - Ferrari, Corvette, I think my next ride is going to be an STi, and soon. I would get an M3 but I can't force my kid to wear KMart clothes so I can have a lux ride

Oh, I'm definitely getting it. It's just a matter of lining up the finances, etc. Right before Christmas isn't exactly the best time. It will probably be more like end of April, so I can get in Christmas proceeds + tax proceeds + birthday proceeds. It's well priced too, right at $30000 out the door.

UPDATE:

Seems they (galpin) are reading the posts but are just lurking and calling owners out on it when they get service. So, this is a PUBLIC CALL OUT ON GALPIN.

I would like the following addressed on my car.

1. The door ding YOU put on my car or provide proof to me that it was there prior to my dropping it off.

2. My seat fixed. (call silverstar or cerritos)

3. Rough Idle

4. and an Estimate for new tires.

Since you (galpin) feel its ok to call out owners, I am returning the favor. Your actions can be construed as extortion (keep your mouth shut on the board or find another dealer).

I will give you 1 week to contact me before I contact my attorney Barry Edzant and make a very public mess.

My vin is JM1FE173140114502. I have been a galpin customer for years and I have purchased two cars from you in the past 3 years. All I am asking for galpin to do your job and fix a product you sell and to fix a product you damaged.
