if you were there you would have seen this really couldnt be classified as a race , rather it would be called a momentary lapse of reason. that thing has 600 ponies of pure amg purrrrrfection under the hood.

mysgl101... wait a sec.. isn't that Jasonhamilton? :P
Anyhows, even if it's ugly, that person can buy all the ugly he wants.. I'm sure they have the money to buy a fleet of RX-8 and wouldn't be a drop in his savings.

I'm not arguing that it isn't expensive, I just don't see it as a great looking car.
then again, last time I was looking at a benz, I had a hard time telling from their product lineup what was 50k and what was 80k.

you know i thought it was ugly too by the pictures, but seeing it in person will surly chage your mind, especially if its driving down the road. it commanded respect from evry car that was around. seriously it looked like a rolling piece of gran turismo art driving, and the sound of the motor was so ........jaw dropping i guess would be the term. see one driving next to you, it is a true change of lattitude.

Reminds me of the time I was in Tampa and had a BMW Z8 Alpina Roadster come up beside me from behind and the older (45ish) woman winked at me and took off! It looked prety sweet...

I lost a battle to an 03 M5 last week. We did two runs from stoplights - the first up to about 65 and the second to about 50.
He beat me hands down in the first one - uphill launch at low rpm plus DSC on. We both didn't launch very hard because we we're feeling each other out to see if a "race" was on. We then both got on the gas hard at roughly the same time.
The second was a little more even, but he still got me. Because of traffic, I was behind him at the light and we launched simultaneously on the second run. This was a slight uphill launch as well, but I turned DSC off and revved a little bit higher on the launch (still only around 3000 rpm). Snatching second and feelling the rear get momentarily squirrelly was great!
03 M5 = 396 hp, 4000 lbs, (although he did have one passenger) and $70k. Plus his was clearly an MT, so I didn't feel too embarrassed.
I too consider losing to an SLR an honor.

here in scottsdale, az its not uncommon to see really high end rare cars, for example there are 3 bently continental gt's regularly seen as well as other bently models, the rolls royce phantoms are somewhat common , a number of ferrari and lamborghinis, today i had seen a porsche carrera gt and a gt3 within a few miles of each other driving, maserati is common and sl500 benz's are like honda civics. its a small town but very wealthy so you notice things like these. old rare cars are often seen too i just dont know enough about them to post. Abbid would agree to this statement.

On the west side of town there are a few exotics, but mostlly illegals w/ beat up trucks.
I feel alone, so alone
