Looking for HID conversion Kit and Workshop(bodyshop) in SoCal

HI ...
I got a 2005 Base RX8, and my halogen headlight light-bulb just die.
and it's gonna cost me about 40 dollars for new bulbs and another 100 dollars to get it installed in dealer. (sorry..not really a DIY person)

so..i just seeking some advise about getting a HID conversion Kit and switch to HID..

Saw couple websites and on craigslist, people are selling those for about 100 dollars plus 30 or so dollars for installation.

but the problem is that i am not sure the quality of those kit (O-nex for example), and i am not sure if i can trust them to install it properly, as people in this forum said that it could cost your 8 to go up in flames or melt the wires.

please advise if you know some shops that has good quality kit and reliable installation. I live in SoCal near Covina.

Thank you so much and happy Easter

How can it be $100 to put a lightbulb in, and only $30 to install a whole HID system?

Don't makes no sense......

I know it doesn't make much sense...
but that's what it cost me about a year ago to replace halogen bulb at the dealer.
they charged me 90 something dollar to just put the light bulb in...man..no choice i had class at night time....

and for the HID installation, that what it stated on craigslist, not sure if it's true or not.

http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/pts/1107122416.html

see the bottom of the ad,
"If you want installation the total cost is $100 total, on spot installation warranty cover up to one year "

thanks

be careful when buying those universal hid kits for our base model being our headlight housing will not fit a standard sized bulb without a adapter at the end of the bulb to fit in the housing correctly (our rx8 bulbs are longer than most other bulbs) i have done this conversion myself i would recommend highly recommend purchasing your kit through this site:

I don't really have any tools, only a few screw driver(two actually).

I live around Covina/pomona area and as long as it's not too far(less than 30 miles), i can make it no problem.

can you recommend a place?

Thanks a lot

Have you guys heard of something called "Plug and Play" HID kit?

does that mean that i don't need installation?

found it on craigslist.
http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/pts/1115530800.html

Said "PLUG n PLAY installation", and cost $110 per kit.

so that probably mean i need to get two right?...

Please advise...

Thanks a lot

.....I don't mean to bash, but seriously the amount of time you have spent in posting and researching a way to get out of doing the work yourself, you could have learned how to install the 30$ bulb.... You are in california....HID aren't really a necessity. Only state i've been in that I can't make out where the F constillations are because you can't see the stars....You completely ignored what Gregs said and keep asking about craigs list. You are on your own buddy. GL

Hi..

Sorry if you feel that i ignored Gregs, it's just he lives kinda far from me, and i really appreciate all his help.

and as to try not to do work myself..there are a good reasons for that, first of all
i don't really have any tools...seriously. and i might actually move to another state before the end of the summer. I do want to learn a thing or two about how to do all these stuffs.

Sorry for keep referencing Craigslist, cause that's kinda where i search.

Thanks

Hi..thanks

Just curious, is there a reason why you are going with the DDM one?
is it because its cheaper, and the same thing as the RPM one?

Thanks

Just a heads up I got the DDM HID 35 watt kit for my fogs and their "plug and play" harness was somewhat backwards. The harness that attaches their bulb to the factory plug actually has to be inverted so that the harness is on upside down. In case you set everything up and nothing turns on this might be the case, god knows I was rechecking my wiring for 3 hours when the solution was to invert the harness.

But they shipped my kit fast so I guess DDM is cool .

D2S bulbs are for OEM projector type housings, D2R is for reflectors that came with halogen bulbs, stock. They have a little shaded black section on the bulb to prevent dazzle from the bottom of the reflector.
You may also see D2C bulbs that claim to do both, but they will dazzle in a reflector.
Plug'n'play sets usually have the same connector as OEM, but you have to be careful, some just have red and black bare wire, or terminals on wires.

Thanx for the explanation but im still a little confused. I dont really know what you mean by dazzle in the headlights..? Does this mean it would look nicer? Which ones do recommend for my base model. Im thinkin of the 55w 6000k but not sure the of bulbs..
