Hit a bird in midflight!

So, I'm traveling north on 101 towards Burlingame to help some friends move. I'm driving briskly on the left lane, listening to some tunes. Around Redwood City, I notice a flock of low flying seagulls, I mean really low flying. I think they were fussing over food or something becuase these birds were flying way too low. As I approach these birds at 75mph, a single bird dropped 2 feet and **THUNK** it hits my windshield. It hits my windshield, bounces up, I drive past it and through my rear, I see the bird falling down towards the wheels of a black Jetta. For the duration of my trip to Burlingame, I'm traumatized and the Black Jetta behind was also traumatized.

If someone can loan me a camera I can show you the whitish smear mark that hitting a seagull at 75mph leaves.

I feel guilty but at least the bird didn't crack my windshield.

Maybe the gulls confused angel eyes for angel food....

wow... the whole "you were going like a low flying plane" thing could be somewhat accurate in this situation...

BUT I CAN MOST DEFINITELY ASSURE you that a bird is an animal much better to hit than a SKUNK.

Consider yourself lucky; the driver of the van in the link was killed when a Canadian goose hit his windshield @ 80MPH. I was caught up in the aftermath of the accident below. Very strange driving up an incline to see a helicopter right in front of you landing on the highway (one of three)

Goose causes fatal crash
A Canada goose smashed through the windshield of a van carrying high school students to a science fair, leading to an accident that killed the driver, police said. The driver was taking eight girls and a chaperone from the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr to the Pennsylvania State Fair Sunday when the collision happened on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Valley Forge, northwest of Philadelphia. The van went 75m up an embankment before striking a tree, police said. "We can only assume that he was rendered unconscious by the impact of the goose," state police Sergeant Robert Foose said.

how about hitting a racoon at 35mph, is that good luck too?
My front air dam was not looking too good after that.

I somehow managed to run over a little sparrow-like bird. It flew really low across the road...pretty normal, but he didn't make it. You could feel it hit the tire. I had my buddy in the car and we were both like...wow, that just doesn't happen. It's amazing how tramatizing hitting a bird can be...yet hitting a dear or racoon, or something 4 legged just ticks you off. Go figure!

Yea I use to live back in the San Mateo area. We would go up to Highway 35 regularly in my buddy's wrx. We've taken a few birds out the game. Had one go right into the top mount, and we had one get stuck between the wheel and fender..that wasnt fun to poke out with a stick..

Living in Arizona I have more encounters with Jack rabbits then anything else.
Driving down the road I see a jack rabbit on the side walk i continue to drive this things just decides to SPRINT across the street and runs RIGHT under my front tire.
