I found a good alignment shop in Hayward

www.speedinn.com is located off Hwy 880 & 92. They have Hunter alignment and wheel mounting/balancing equipment, plus are open Saturdays if weekdays aren't convenient. Mention rx8club to get a discount on any custom alignments. They have done alignments for both stock and highly modified cars to good effect.

Yes, this is a shamless plug. I like the work they do and figure they could use the extra traffic. Custom Alignment in Mountain View used to be my alignment shop of choice but I found out they seriously overtorque bolts.

Not to bang on firestone--okay, I am banging on firestone--but what kind of equipment do they use for their alignment? And how good are they with setting custom alignments--or regular alignments for that matter? Do they give you a printout of before/after settings as proof of their work?

The benefit to specialty shops like Speed Inn is they cater to a racing crowd and know what works. They listen to what you want to do, what the car is doing now and recommend adjustments accordingly.

The owner, Dave, has aligned both modified and stock RX-8s to good effect for autocrosses.

I normally go to the one on Travis AFB or the one right by my house. and they've been doing a pretty good job so far. you just have to specify what you want them to do. and if for some reason you don't like the results, you can always come back and have them do the appropriate adjustments. the alignment rack is digital but I'm not sure what brand. And yes they give you a printout of the before and after specs along with the factory recommended values. I first got the plan for my AE86 (1986 RWD corolla, for the non-Initial D fanboys! ), never gave me any problems and catered to what I need so I tought it's a good investment for my RX8 since I plan on taking the coupe to the track.

Sorry to revive this thread. I just got new rear tires and noticed I have major inward toe. I want my car to be aligned perfectly, and no place in Marin seems adequate. How much was a full 4 wheel alignment?

It appears you want to plug the shop but you don't want to plug the price you got.

To me helping people with regard to alignment, etc., should be just like helping people buy tires, including what to buy and where to buy and for how much.

People who come on to this forum want to know what's the best price for whatever item from whatever place. Withholding any such info is, well, shameless (plug).
