I got sandwiched...

I was driving to work this morning SB on Beach Blvd. in Buena Park and got sandwiched between a GMC Yukon and a Dodge Ram 1500. I'm uninjured but my car is cosmetically tore up...I stopped and the Ram behind me didn't. He hit me and pushed me into the Yukon in front of me. Luckily I hit the Yukon's tow-hitch and it went though my grill, not setting off the air bags...cracked the radiator though...

Here's some pics...

Anyone know of a good body shop in the Orange County area? I'd prefer a Mazda dealership if possible...Price doesn't matter, the Ram driver's insurance will be picking up the tab...

I can't recommend any body shops but I can recommend that you consider purchasing MazdaSpeed (or any other aftermarket) body parts. Insurance will reimburse you to replace with an identical part. At that point it costs relatively little (and sometimes less) to install something different.

PUR NRG, sounds like a good idea if I had the extra cash at the moment...I wonder if I could make that request to the body shop? To replace the stock pieces with MazdaSpeed pieces...hmmm..It woudl probably save money since they wouldn't have to buy the stock bumper AND the stock body kit...

I used a body shop called Aerotech in buena park to paint my civic. They can probably help you and get ms parts and they are top notch. Ask for Jack , remind him that you know mikeb and he painted my civic daytona blue. he will remember me. Sorry I dont have the number on me for the shop.

I used Apex Auto Body in Huntington Beach. Nice competent guys. Tell them Jack with his Green RX-8 says hello.

My crash.

Now that they have experience with my car, your experience should go smoother.

MikeB, Since the RX-8 is so new (only been out for around 9 months, as we all know) I really wanted to take it to a Mazda dealer for repair. I didn't want to be the first RX-8 any body shop had worked on, so I decided on Tustin Ranch Collision Center which is a part of the "new" Heritage Mazda, Tustin. A lot of people on this board know my beef with Tustin Mazda as it was called, but I'm hoping I get better treatment out of their collision center than I did from their sales, finance and service staff. ::fingers crossed::

lol, one of my coworkers has a hummer h2, and they were driving when they came upon a crash, and they didn't stop in time. The neon went under the front and had the trunk driven into the rear seat. The accord behind her couldn't stop either and ran into and then under her car, with the driver winding up right beside the rear tires. My coworkers air bags didn't even go off and it only has minor cosmetic damages, she will get it back in a week! H2's are a menace, just be glad you didn't hit one of them. That does suck for you though, I would say that's totalled because the structural integrity may may it unsafe to drive in the future.

do a health claim, go a doctor's note or have a lawyer to help you can get at least over 4000 not including the damage to the car. for the car part, since it is new you MUST request NEW STOCK parts, NO AFTERMARKET or any cheap ****, my advice to you is use the money to get some nice FACTORY kit, not copy replica. paint it WHITE! that's what i will do if i were you.
