Interested in a Bay Area All-Mazda Meet?
Hi All,
I'm a Mazda3 owner stopping in to extend an invite to you all (also posted on rx7club)...
I'm posting to see who would be interested in an all-Mazda meet hosted by Hayward Mazda here in the Bay Area.
www.haywardmazda.com
They are a brand new, exclusively Mazda dealership. I brought my car in for service yesterday and came away very pleased with the experience. They provide a comfortable waiting area (complete with an in-house coffee shop!), spacious state-of-the art service bays and full detailing services.
I mentioned our Mazda community and the Service Director says they are very interested in supporting Mazda Enthusiasts and would like to hold an all-Mazda meet at their huge dealership.
Food, parking and activities would be provided. It would be a great opportunity to get to know your fellow Mazda owners, go behind the scenes of a Mazda service center, show off your rides and get ideas for your next mod!
In terms of scheduling, we're thinking Saturday or Sunday, the 12th or 13th of August.
Please let me know if you're interested and if one day works better than the other. I'll try to post this on other Mazda forums and see what others think. If there's enough interest, I'll start another thread with specifics and a sign up.

Thanks for your interest. I'm planning on talking to the service director Monday and I'll now more then.
This is looking like it should be some pretty good representation from the different groups (Proteges, 3's, 6's, 7s, 8s and Miatas).

Added a poll for your preference on the day!
Also, Hayward Mazda is interested in the types of activities you would like to see at the event (e.g. Service Walk-thrus, Tech Talks, Guest Speakers, Detail Clinic, Mazdaspeed/Race/AutoX seminar, etc.). The Service and Parts Director is a Mazda enthusiast himself with his own history of racing Mazdas so let's hear what you'd like to see!

Otherwise, I would love the clinics. I'm always up for learning more things. And again, DISCOUNTS! :D

You all must've had some pretty bad experiences before. I didn't get that sense from them at all when I was there. And like I said, the service director is an enthusiast himself (he used to race a 7) so I think they're all about making us feel welcome.
(On a side note, my other car before I got the 3 was an IS300 (heavily modified) and the Lexus dealership in Fremont always took care of me. It comes down to how each service department is).
I think the bottom line is we all show up and have a good time. The point is to give these guys a chance as a new dealership and I'm sure if we show them some support, we will get the same support in return.
So on that note, please continue to post up about what you'd like to see there. It's all about what you guys want to get out of it (<--those words come directly from my conversation with the service director today)

haha lets just say there are some pretty bad horror stories about the evil dealerships.
All in all, i'm down to go. Even if they do try to sell the dealership at least they giving us a place to park our cars and have a pretty coo meet, it's only expected.
I think a walkthrough would be nice, maybe food and refreshments?
