Depends on where we're going, for what reason, and who has the most gas.

Nice choice of color for a BB Kat, at first I thought you had some volks on as well (good knockoffs) and I was thinking that you should have kept those rims instead of the stock gold ones.

THE FINISHED PRODUCT:

OEM 18" rims powdercoated gold and wrapped in BFG G-Force KDW 2 225/45/18 tires:

Bad pics, all I had was the camera on the phone before it got too dark to take pics, so I'll update with better ones in the next day or so. But for now, you get the idea.

How are they holding up? I am thinking of doing it in a darker bronze like the STI rims. How do you think they would look on a VR RX8?

The PC'ing has been holding up great, although I did have to get it re-done (free of charge) once, cause they had a problem with the clear coat flaking off (they over-cured it), so they redid it free of charge, and I had them leave the clear off this time.

I think bronze would look nice. I had that color on my red Si when I had it.

when you powder coat clear is not needed. After baking you get a nice luster to the finish. thats the beauty of powder coating

To powder coat, or not to powder coat, that is the question. Should I paint for that smooth surface or powder coat for that toughness.

powder coat. in the long run it will work out much better for you. Even with a good paint job there is a higher tendency to chip opposed to powder coating.

Definetely powdercoat. Paint chips fast, and while it may look fine from afar, it'll look like crap up close. Then you just look like a ricer. :P

The clear just gave it more shine, and they said they had never had anything clip like that, and thankfully they guaranteed their work and re-did it. I actually like it better now that there's none, it has a bit more of a matte finish. Make sure you post pics once you get them done.
