Hey guys, what's the Nevada law about front plates? Should I bolt it back on for the trip if I can make it down there in June?

None of us have a front plate on the 8's, but I do believe they enforce the law for you to have your front plate on the car. I don't think any of us had any problems with the law enforcement about front plates, so you should be good!

It says if there is a spot to put the plate it must be on there. Also if mazda provides a bracket for a plate you must have a plate on there.

I have the bracket in my garage but I'm not putting a plate on there. Looking at the front of the car it doesnt look like its possible to put a plate on really so I just assumed the cops would think the same thing.

About 10,000 miles - not many but remember my car is not a daily driver........

Nevada law is not very specific on front plates..........There is an obscure section in the code that says you will have a plate unless there is no way to secure it or it interferes with the operation of the vehicle AKA obstructs cooling. I have lived here for 46 years and none of my personal cars has a front plate and I have never heard from an officer that I need to add one.

Tell you what, if you get a ticket for no front plate (exclusively) I will pay that ticket my self.......The way our law reads is that if it interferes with cooling you don't have to run it.

The cops in Cali do not have the same attitude and even stop out-of-staters to warn them. I am not sure of the attitude in Arizona or Utah, Texas, Wyoming or Washington, but I drive quit a bit in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona and have never been stopped (for a plate).

"Whatever Happens In Vegas" meet

Announcement of the third annual Las Vegas "What Happens In Las Vegas" Meet. This event is open to all rotary vehicles

Date of the meet: June 18th and 19th, 2010

Friday evening gathering: In & Out Burgers on West Sahara

Friday evening party: When we leave the In & Out burger, we will caravan to "Las Vegas Mini Gran Prix (outdoor track) where we can ride the carts by the hour ($18.00 per hour) and a no host bar at Chili's restaurant bar.

Saturday drive meet point: In & Out Burgers on West Sahara 10am

Saturday evening party: Hoffbrahause , Las Vegas, 7pm

Rooms will be available at discounted rates thru @!!narotordo
For the ones that want to stay off the strip: I just confirmed I can do coned off parking!
You will not lose your spot unless another 8 takes the spot lol
How it works: Cone in spot. Remove cone and park. Place cone behind car. When you leave the spot place a cone there so no one piston takes your spot.
Our back lot is now walled in by a 10' brick wall with tons of light and the security guard is a ex RX-8 owner. PM me for room info

We don't have front plates here in AZ. At all. So if I'm in another state and they stop me and try to give me a ticket. ****'s gonna hit the fan. They can not enforce other states laws.

Atilla did you steal the "what Happens in Vegas" thread? Shame.

Atilla stole it and is holding it for ransom. Last I heard his demands consisted of a BHR ignition, 3 midgets, 1 rubber chicken, and a pastrami sandwixh.
