A 16" wheel will not fit a manual RX8 brake rotor. It would fit a base model RX8 AT. The one that came with 16" wheels from the factory. Minimum size would be 17" and depending on the wheel not guaranteed to fit.

Unless you other wise, meet us at the Orlean at noon. If something comes up, we will call.

Unless things have changed the whole meet & greet and whatever else is happening in that parking lot should end at 8 pm. Thats what the website says anyway.

I might be running a little late but should be there between 12 and 1. We can start setting up for the 3pm crowd.

You have a compression tester Phil? That is good to know, some day I would also like to get that done, just to see how my motor is holding up. I would love help with seafoaming as well, I think it might be slightly different on an s2 from the pics I saw in the DIY.

I've been told I probably live close to you, but I'm not sure.

How about saving the compression testing for next week.......With setting up, checking into the hotel and greeting the guests I may be busy. Remember to talk to Erick on the recommended way to test.

Yes I have a compression tester and all are welcome to test their vehicles.

When you do come to test, remember to bring your wheel lock key and some work clothes. While it can be done without removing the drivers side wheel it takes a munchkin with tiny hands and head to do it. Also requires a fully charged battery.

Just wanted to say thank you for letting me use your compression tester Phil, I really appreciate it. I managed to do it with the wheel on but it was a very tight squeeze and I couldn't really see what I was doing. Only tested the front rotor but it was 9.9 or 9.8 not sure what rpm but Easy said it was pretty good. Also a big thank you to easy_e1(eric?) for taking time out his day to help me do the test.

Your welcome.......I recommend removing the wheel for two reasons...1. You need to be able to see what your doing and 2. It is too easy to cross thread a spark plug. I hope that figure was 90.9 and 90.8 cuz that is in the "new engine" neighborhood (Easy told me it was).

This was the best event so far in the series.......13x and 66x worked their fingers to the bone to make this an event to remember...I am not sure they get the recognition that they deserve. Ray, Jennie and I feel that this could be the premier annual event for rotary owners. I wish to thank everyone who assisted us in making this years event a success.

After a couple of week rest, Ray, Jennie and I will be starting to plan for next year. Since this event belongs to Sin City Rotary and Vegas 8 organizations, we would love for some input from both clubs.

maybe we could look into how much renting the drag strip at las vegas motor speedway is? obviously that would drive up the cost for those that want to run down the strip. but its just a thought for later down the road when the event starts to become bigger and bigger.

Yea I wasn't sure on the exact number he said, it was either 9.9 or 90.9 I just went with 9.9 based on other threads about compression tests and what they said was good. I just know it had good compression according to Easy.

I just looked at other threads about the tr-01 compression tester(thats what you have i think) and it said 98.6 psi was what an engine had to make at 250 rpm to be at the minimum allowed by mazda before a replacement was done, so I am now a bit confused. My car and engine feels fine, but maybe it just didn't test at the right RPM since we couldn't disconnect the ecc shaft, I dunno.

I will definitely be removing the wheel when I change my plugs because I cant imagine how hard it would be with it on there, especially changing the back ones.

You haven't changed your plugs? Yes remove wheel and get the plugs all the way in by hand prior to using a ratchet, I've seen two engines where the housing got cross threaded on the rear rotor. Obviously that is not good

Actually my thought was we drive torqueless wonders so perhaps the road course track in Pahrump would better suit our cars curves some turns wooooot

Nope haven't changed them yet, got 30k miles on it and Easy said the plug we pulled for the compression test looked pretty good still so I am gonna give them a little longer.

I definitely planned on putting them in by hand, always do when changing plugs on cars unless its just not possible.

spring mountain raceway? its pretty pricey from what i hear. it would def be alot more fun.

even tho our 8's are pretty slow on the straight it would still be pretty fun running each other as we would be the only cars there running.

As far as cost we'll have to look into it, like I said an idea. It may prove to not be a viable one but we'll have to see

Nothing happened to me, just lost an engine and Easy_E1 took care of that.

I looked into the Spring Mountain track (aka Parumph road course) and found that unless we were a real Club with insurance and such, use of the track would be cost prohibitive. Typically our cars are not race ready with roll bars and racing restraints so we could only do non competitive laps. When I did it several years back, it cost $250.00 for 5 laps. I know nothing about the Speedway's 1/4 mile drag track since our cars are not 1/4 mile queens I did not investigate.

Be advised that when using my (or most other) compression testers that there is a minimum RPM that you must maintain and also a correction factor. Our correction factor at 250 RPM is 1.039. Now that correction factor changes if you can not maintain 250 RPM. So saying the poster had a 90.9 compression reading and he maintained 250 RPM then his real compression reading was/is 94.45. While not new, it is well within the acceptable range according to Mazda. If you did not disconnect the ECC shaft then you did not maintain the 250 RPM required (the tester will show your RPM) and should be retested.

Yea we did not disconnect the ecc shaft but Easy said I was at 96/97/98 at 260 rpm, I PMd him to get the exact compression and rpm because I could not remember.
