Ok guys Q&A time, so the motor on the 8 finally blew on me and since its gone I've been online looking for another motor and the average price for an 8 motor used is 2k but if i wanna have a rebuild done its about 2-2.5k. So I was thinking for that price I can buy a 3rd Gen motor and trans for half the price but would it cost me and additional 2-3k to have installed plus fabrication does anyone know?
it'll cost 2-3k (probably more) for the rx7 motor. A large chunk of that would be for engine management (though, i've often wondered why a renny ecu couldn't be adapted for an rx7 motor...

hmmm good ? i found a company out of Canada that sells the 3rd gen motor and trans from Japan for $1300 plus and extra 250 for shipping. Do you or anyone else know anything about Tigerjapanese?
There are some threads about the swap on this site, might want to check into that first, I know it's fairly pricey. I know nothing about tigerjapanese (though i've heard the name before)

If the price is right, anything can be done. The installation of a third gen in an 8 would be costly and difficult. The third gen ECU will not support the RX8 and the RX8 ECU will not support the third gen engine. Yes an after market ECU can be substituted but you would loose about 2/3 of your dash readouts and would have to do some extensive work to your steering (remember the RX8 is fly by wire). Yes it can be done and has been.
I believe that the cost of the change, the loss of all the dash readouts and the fact that the already dismal trade-in value would be reduced even more.
Do as I did. You can find a good used engine at one of the junkies for a lot less. Rebuild the original engine at your leisure or have some one else do it and keep it for a spare.
I too have heard of Tigerjapanise but nothing good or bad.

Anyone here interested in an hks hi power single exit exhaust system, an emergency forces me to sell it and locally is always the first option. Brand new in box, installation ready. Letting it go for a cool $500, anyone interested I will be constantly checking the thread
easy does it, easy. haha. I know, lame, sorry.
threeandahalf - I didn't mean any offense, just 1 post, selling something local, no pics, etc, seemed a bit "blah". but since you asked, take a piece of paper, write your username on it, take a pic of that with the part. (also, i'm sure a forum **** will jump in here and tell you to post in the forsale section, but i dont personally care)

i'd consider it for $400. if you look online real close you can see these go for $470ish shipped. and if u look even closer u can sometimes find them for $410 free shipping.
You're correct the lowest prices for this exhaust are in the $450-500 range, the hks was my first choice so an extensive search took me to the lowest shipped price of $507. The only other exhaust cheaper is the race roots single exit currently going $350 I believe? MSRP on the HKS site is $630.
