I choose the used engine due to time constraints. When I needed mine I just looked on line for a junkie that had some and then phoned a few more. I was lucky as a junkie in Phoenix had one with less than 300 miles.......A woman had a factory rebuilt installed and had a wreck the next week, talk about bad luck and good luck for me.
I see that there are a coupe of peeps that say to rebuild the one you have. I have never done it so I can't say if it's easy or hard. I've had my engines rebuilt by BHR. Unfortunately they are kinda slow so you'd be down a while. Parts are not that hard to come by but knowledge is. I know that one of the gents that says rebuild yours is so busy that he has trouble breathing. Maybe drifthappens is not too busy and can assist you.

Id like to rebuild mine but 1 I dont have a garage to work out of, and 2 having someone with the knowledge base to take the time to help me rebuild is another issue im faced with. Plus there is no shop here in vegas that can do the rebuild, so im just gonna ship it to BHR and let them deal with the headache.

The last time I talked to him he said he could but he wasnt to knowledgeable on the 8s, plus I would like my 8 back asap, nothing against the guy but he is by himself down at the shop and I would like my car back by Xmas no later than New Yrs
His name is karack on here. I don't have his number handy. They eBay kits are usually not that great. The turbos aren't usually balanced right. Plus, they don't have the manifold, which you can get seperately, for over a grand usually. If you want to go rear mount or something, like I plan to, you can use the Turbo for mocking it up, and then move to something better (with the same flange and such). However, with that being said, I know several people that have run those turbos on fast cars with no issues, but I take that as the exceptions rather than the norm.
Yeah, FI is really the only way to break out the power. It looks like even full exhaust/intake and tuning will get you just over 200whp. If you're having the engine rebuilt anyway, you might as well get some light porting done, IMO.

LOL funny enough that was me, I just decided to just send my car to BHR and have them hook me up, and I think I'm getting a better deal with them than the dealer. For some reason I just didn't get a good vibe from the dealer it seemed kind of shady.

Selling a few ps3 games if anyone is interested or knows someone who might be. The prices are pretty firm, black ops should really be more $$ but if anyone here wants it I would do $15.
Fallout: New Vegas - $10
Call of Duty: Black Ops - $15

B get that engine ported while it is down there! If you can swing a cold air and throttle spacer also, now would be a good time for that too

well, just finished installing the tanabe springs. looks like i'll def need to replace the front right strut here soon. the seal is bad and the strut was completely wet. was pretty easy to compress also.
with that said. does anyone local happen to have any spare oem struts laying around doing nothing?

When my engine went south, I checked with the dealer both here and in Phoenix. The answers I got were very vague but it seemed that around $6000.00 plus installation was going to be the price that they wanted. They would give me a base price, then add freight and then tell me that they had to change a bunch of other stuff (plugs, coils, etc.) and never did give me a direct price. This was with the new dealer in the northwest. The Arizona source told me around $6000.00 but there was a 6 week wait. I think part of my problem was all I wanted was the basic engine as I did have things to remove and add on. They kept telling me that it was a "new" engine but I am sure it was a reman. I would have had BHR rebuild the "blown" engine except that WHiV4 was only a week away. Presently the "blown" engine is at BHR for a take your time rebuild.
If your lucky you have a manual tranny and it's easy to R&R one of those.
