10am should be good. Should have my "honey do's" completed by then. If anyone else wants to come over and watch, help or throw sand at us, your welcome. PM me for directions.

Hey Guys & Gals, sorry to jump in on the end of this thread...new to this forum, but have been reading and researching the info on here about the 8's. I'm a long time rotary owner and racer (7's), looking to share / trade some knowledge with other locals. And yes, despite all the warnings, I couldn't resist picking up an 8 too. Anyway, I hope to meet up with the local owners, and see what events are coming up. Cheers! ~Ted

There are two Mazda dealers in Vegas, centennial and courtesy. I don't like courtesy and I don't think I am alone in that so I only go to centennial.

This is a link to google maps to show you where it is. If the link doesn't work for some reason just google "centennial mazda las vegas".

If not hopefully Phil can help you out. I think you would need to have someone go over there and help you do the test though.

Every rotary owner is welcome to test his compression at my garage. Keep in mind that I am unable to do the work but have all the tools you will need. You will need to know or have the following with you:

1. Knowledge of the eccentric shaft positioning sensors location (use search)

2. Wheel lock key if wheels so equipped (drivers side will be removed)

3. Fully charged battery

4. If your current spark plugs have been in for a while, new plugs.

I prefer that we do the test on a Saturday from 10am until 2pm or a Friday evening after 3pm. For direction to my home just PM me

Found a pic of the sensor (photo by "say no to pistons".
Here is what you do:
1. Remove Engine Cover.
2. Verify that Battery is fully charged.
3. Warm Up Engine.
4. Remove the Trailing or Leading Spark Plug of the front and rear rotors.
5. Disconnect Eccentric Shaft Position Sensor (Crank Sensor).

WARNING: Hot engines can cause severe Burns.

CAUTION: To cut the fuel injection and ignition, make sure the Eccentric Shaft Position Sensor (Crank Sensor) is Disconnected.

TO TEST COMPRESSIONS.

1. Install TR-01 Spark Plug Sensor to the Trailing or Leading side Spark Plug Hole Of The Rotor Housing.
2. Depress the Accelerator pedal fully and crank for 7 seconds or more.
3. Read Compressions and Engine Crank Speed (RPM).
4. Perform the same procedure for the other Rotor Housing.
5. If the compressions is at the minimum or less, or the difference in the chambers and difference in the rotors exceed the specifications, replace or overhaul engine.

Standard : 830kPA 8.5kgf-cm, 120 PSI @250RPM
Minimum : 680kPA 6.9kgf-cm, 98.6 PSI @ 250RPM
Standard Difference Between Chambers:
Within 150kPA 1.5kgf-cm, 21.8 PSI
Standard Difference in Rotors:
Within 100kPA 1.0kgf-cm, 14.5 PSI

6. Install Spark Plugs (correct heat ranges - Leading or Trailing).
7. Connect Eccentric Shaft Position Sensor (Crank Sensor).
8. Install Engine Cover.

Phil u are awesome. Thanks for that info. Invaluable!

Squishband and cxaguin if u check out Sincityrotary.com we have meets every Thurs and there is a cruise coming up. 13x here can give u more info if needed.

P.S. I want exhaust. Now that said I'm short on cash (daughters birth day is in a week and so is mine) so I found a eBay brand cat back for under $200 anyone know of any good. Thinking that or just going muffler-less any ideas or suggestions, I'm just looking for sound the stock buzz is getting to me... PLEASE, Don't say save money buy namebrand quality exhaust... before i buy a 600 peace of assorted aluminum pipes that don't increase performance I'd rather buy a Cobb AP and a few other things. Thanks...

An A/T can be a wonderful thing......Mine is an AT and I would not have it any other way. I am unable to make meets during the week but maybe there will be one on the weekend or if you go to seven stock I'll show you mine.

For those of you that have not seen my 8, take a look at this link https://www.rx8club.com/major-horsep...0/#post4334313

I needed a little tuning and such so BHR took it to Phoenix and worked on it. I keep gaining on that elusive 300 hp mark but I do keep trying.

Now keep in mind that this is an 04 four port auto........

Many thanks to Easy_1 and Flashwing.
