Las Vegas: Yellow RX8 in accident this morning
Hope it wasn't anyone on this forum. The accident didn't look bad but you never know w/ cars these days. It was a yellow rx8 and it happend at the intersection of Decatur & Cheyenne around 7:45 ish. From the looks of it the yellow rx8 was rear ended while waiting to make a left onto northbound Decatur by a SUV....maybe Chevy Envoy or Suburban. No visible damage but just wanted to say keep your head up if it was someone on this forum.

Bad news guys: I know the couple that own(ed) the car...
On the way to the dealer later that afternoon to inspect the damage, and order parts for new bumper supports, some *** ran a red light doing at least 50 and caught her square on the front driver side. She was sore but OK, but that 8 is just about toatled.
I think I heard a number like 10 grand to fix, but I don't think it's correct, since the ECU, wiring harness, front clip, wheel, tire, and body were all damaged badly.
Ron and his wife are huge RX nuts... I've known him since college, and bought my old FD from him... he, at one time, owned something like 6 RX-7's... a bunch of 1st gens, a couple 2nd gens, 3rds, and the RX-8.

Vegas has the worst drivers in America. We have worse drivers than New York City, Manhattan, whatever. No one believes it but we do. The problem is that we have drivers from every part of the world in Vegas. They all have different driving styles accustomed to their respective cities. Some cities have bad drivers, some cities have good drivers. Las Vegas has a mix of everyone, we have the worst town for accidents.
Just a few weeks ago it started raining, it was coming down hard...even at first. I flipped on the news and they said they had a REPORTED 23 accidents. But yeah, people are so moronic in this city they go through red lights like they are green. They have no care at all. 3 kids at my school died last year in car accidents (Palo Verde HS), all had to do with other drivers (not the teen kids) running red lights. It was a very difficult year last year, especially after we lost one of our teachers before, in 9 - 11 - 01.

I agree, with the previous post, Vegas has the worst drivers on our streets and highways. Lots of tourists, no bar time, and bad drivers that move here make for a bad mix. I work in a building on a one way street (3 lanes wide) and at least once a month, sometimes more often, there is someone hauling the wrong way down 4th street. Tourists are not bad folks, but they often are more focused on the sights than the roads, and sometimes they'll stop or slow to a crawl for no apparent reason.
