Hey all.... someone wanna cheer me up? I hate being emo

Thought my car was going to disintegrate this past weekend. HUGE loss of power, engine choking, bad vibration, white smoke from the engine bay, bad smells, ALL WHEN I HAD FRIENDS IN TOWN!

Got Mazda Roadside to tow my car to Galpin (wouldn't take it to Alhambra like I wanted, whatever) and they gave me a loaner. Today they call me saying my motor mounts, ignition coils, and wires were bad and were replaced under warranty. They couldn't reproduce the smoke tho so they don't know what to fix; apparently it runs fine now. WTF....... Brand new tranny, now all this crap.... cars are not supposed to have all these damn problems when I don't even have 40k miles! I'm afraid something got messed up with the rotors in the whole process. Soon enough the motor will go and I'll end up having a rebuilt car under warranty.

OH AND THEY FORGOT TO ADD NEW SMILIES IN THE FORUM OVERHAUL!!!!!!

Never fear Wing, Jorge is here...

The huge loss of power and smoke is completely along the lines of possible symptoms if plugs, wires, and coil packs went bad. It actually sounds like Galpin might have PROPERLY diagnosed your issues. I toasted a set of spark plug wires on my Mazda 626 once and sure enough...it'll started riding rough and I saw smoke from the hood.

As for the motor mounts, that's definitely where the bad vibrations were coming from. I had my mounts replaced a few months ago and it feels MUCH better now.

Keep your head up man, sounds like you caught the problem before it caused anything major damage, you got everything fixed (without hassle), AND now you can tell your friends how awesome your Mazda dealership is.

I think I need new motor mounts. My car shakes when the ac kicks on at idle. Is that normal?

Thx Jorge! I was telling myself the same things, guess it was just worse cause I couldn't show off my car to buddies A very big sigh indeed for no hassle proceedings.

Rodger: Maybe they are about to go? Have em checked. Cant hurt...

[Waiting for the call back to go get my car...]

no, the RX-8 is designed to adjust idle for a/c being on or off. That's how my rattle started and it progressively got worse as the weeks went by.
Every time the A/C cycles, it felt like a freaking earthquake in my car.

I made a prototype footwell light with the blue leds. The color is sexy, very pure blue, something that can only be attained with leds.....good leds. They are also overwhelmingly bright using six per side. I'm going to cut it back to four.

My car does the same thing. I'm going to have the dealer check it out just to be on the safe side.
