I personally wouldn't rock a plate on the dash, seems too dangerous. However, I haven't been running a front plate for 3.5 years now in the heart of LA + OC and have never been "pulled over" for no front plate.

Mazdaspeed: the car is MUCH more affordable now then when some of us bought ours 4 years ago. Depreciation, lease turn-ins, reposessed cars, and SUPPLY all work against us but to the benefit of younger buyers.
Haven't you noticed the owners that are signing up these days are younger? That would be why.
This always happens with cars in our price range. Over $30k, many can't afford them but give it a couple years and guys like MaRxtin can afford them by working hard and saving up.

Martxtin: if you hang out here long enough you'll quickly realize that I always call them as I see 'em.
The reality is that SOME people your age do not deserve an RX-8 but those are kids whose parents gave them an RX-8 in high school and those kids don't know the meaning of a dollar. You seem to have worked hard for yours and I for one, congratulate you on the purchase.
The only thing I can ask is that you be VERY careful with that car. I know I did a LOT of stupid stuff behind the wheel of a car when I was a teenager and had I been driving a car like an RX-8, things could have gone REALLY bad for me...
P.S. Never, ever turn off the traction control.

the only way to change that is with the Metra Stereo kit. It replaces the entire center piece where your radio goes and then you can put in a touch screen or a double din stereo.
Not really worth all the trouble if all you want to do is change what it says.
If you're doing a complete stereo upgrade then it is a nice little perk.

what's wrong with the stock rear?
there aren't a whole lot of options for the rear bumper and most of them (IM0) aren't very good looking.
