In Memory of Michael Andrew Dafforn
Hey guys, its Fatty... obviously since im posting this.
Michael Andrew Dafforn was my father and passed away on Saturday around 1:00pm. He was a road enthusiast like all of us... just with a different vehicle.
The man was crazy about motorcycles. He kept his liscence renewed for 30 years even though he never had a bike. He finally got his dream bike (a Harley) in March and was loving life SOOOOOO much. Saturday he went on a charity ride with a bunch of guys for a fellow biker and his wife(she was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer). On the ride my father ( a very cautious driver) lost control from a defect in the road and was killed by hitting a tree. The only consolation is knowing that he died instantly and didnt suffer.... he also died like he lived. WITH HIS BOOTS ON.
The reason I am posting this is because we sat down with the group of guys he was riding with on saturday and they explained what happened, and how. The way they explained it was so near and dear to my heart that it really hit home.
They were on a canyon run. I know SO many of us have either been on one, heard about one or have dreamed about going on one since buying our beloved 8s.
I am up north near sacramento right now but on my return down south I would really like to set up a run for all of us that have lost loved ones and friend in the canyons of california.
I want to finish the run that my father never got to and am extending this invitation to anyone that would like to come.
The road is our sheperd... that we ALL SHOULD WANT!

i'm so incredibly sorry to hear that. i hope you and your family are doing well and know that he is now shining down on you and watching over you everywhere you go.
just let us know when you'd like to do it, and you'll have a pack ready to go.

Sorry to chime in on your thread, from across the US. But I want to offer my condolence. You'll see him again sometime. I wish I could go on the drive with you guys, though I'll offer my spirit for the run.
Many blessings and Peace. Rachael

Thank you all SOO much for the responces. It means a lot guys. His family of motorcycle enthusiasts really came together. the group he was with came over yesterday and explained to us what happened. It nothing like seeing abunch of grown men ( Harley riders) coming into the house and Weeping for a fallen brother.
I am really appreiciative of all the support from MY family of 8 owners and I feel so special being apart of a brother (and sister... Photo chick :D)hood.
Once I am back down south I will get more information on the canyon run and let everyone know.
