What I've done is leave the temporary registration sticker that dealers put on new cars stuck to the front windshield. That way, any cop passing me from the opposite direction and noticing no front plate will hopefully think my car is still new. Another reason to keep it clean!
I was properly parked.

I don't see any 40610.

I'll call them and notify let you know how it goes.

No Front plate, but I think they do like my Mazdaspeed kit. Maybe thats the ticket to no tickets.
just can pray for the best. i checked on a site a month ago and they stated ticket usually will come in 3 weeks.

now i moved down to daly city. i passby the cops here everyday and hope they don ticket me for no F/P .....u know cops in smaller city usually has less to do so likely to ticket people just to make them look they 'work'

bedrock...i am thinking of getting a MS bumper, any suggestion for the best price ?

<<no F/P actually saved me one time when i was hit by a redlight camera in problematic intersection. i went back there to check and seemed like they only took the front side (diff city has diff implementations). so i waited and prayed and i have not got a ticket yet ($342). been almost 2 months.>>

And you're proud of this? I'd be horrified if I ran a red light. You could have seriously hurt people.

nobody means to run redlight.

some cameras are purposely put on problematic intersections where its hard to see. i was hit by the one which put so close to another red light where u tend to miss it. fyi, only this specific redlight has camera mounted on so basically cops know people have run it a lot but irronically they didnt find away to solve the problem instead to ticket people

RXcaligirl....don tell me u never run over redlight ?! bcos that wud be hypocrite

Like I said, if it's so cut and dry, why don't they ever ticket a Corvette? What's so special that they never have front plates? Next time you drive around, notice the vettes with no front plate.
I know other states don't have FP laws. But I think the front plate law is needed/used because it can match a plate with the person driving the vehicle. One could contest that that is THEIR car running the light (if photo'd from behind), but it wasn't THEM driving... I don't know if that would hold up, though (?)

I do notice Vette's rarely have their FP on, too. But, I think sometimes cops figure a Vette owner is probably a guy in his 40s/has a family/has kids... and is responsible. Whether it's fair or not, cops "judge" youth-oriented sports cars/"rice" cars as having young or irresponsible owners, who need to be shown how the law works, etc.

I don't consider the RX-8 rice, but to a cop, he can tell it's a Japanese sports car and as such perceives the car/possible owner differently... both unfairly and inconsistently. It's how stuff works... it's rarely cut and dry.

It's all about some cops interpretation: Ticket according to the letter of the law? Or the spirit of the law?

True, I discussed the ticket for FP and the Exhaust with some of the other members on this board.. and we concluded that it's partly because the Vette/Harley Davidsons with the LOUD *** exhausts are mainly owned by the 40+ year old white male that obviously have money. Perhaps they are lawyers, doctors, etc... so the police wouldn't want to mess with them.

I'm still not putting my front plate on...

People please stay in the line of the discussion.
Running on red light is bad - but it happens.

My friend had a vette, there isn't any place to mount it without buying a kit. Same with his viper. Maybe cops figure you spent all of the money on the car and gas that you can't afford the plate kit :D

From what I understand about the red light cameras, they take both front and back pictures. Running a red tickets go to the driver, not the registered car owner, so if they don't have your picture (not the car's), you can get it tossed out, cause they can't prove it was you. Every now and then you hear about this on the news.

I find this funny:

"The corporations and cities that sponsor automated enforcement programs expect and need drivers to continue running red lights to keep the program profitable. It seems perverse that a system marketed to improve traffic safety, can only survive if it does not succeed.

If automated enforcement were truly capable of stopping drivers from running red lights, it would soon do so and become unprofitable. Does anyone honestly believe that private corporations are investing millions of dollars in a system whose success will soon render it obsolete?"

That's not true. I have a courtesy picture from the Police. It shows me from the back of the car, running a Red light.

I was stuck in the mode of do I brake or do I go? Oops just a little too slow on that one. And I was well under the speed limit when it happened.

Then two weeks later a picture showed up in the mail.

I dont think the $25 parking/violation requires you to prove you fixed the issue, unlike a fix-it ticket does. I got a ticket while parked at LAX short-term parking for no front plate on the rx8. I payed the ticket but I don't intend to put the front plate on. On the other hand, I got a no-front-plate fix it ticket in my FD (rather than the exhibition-of-speed ticket the cop was originally going to give me since I guess my reasoning of 'just being an idiot' was good enough for him) and I promptly put the plate on and got the fix-it ticket signed off ($10) for that one. I didn't remove the plate either (although the FD is since sold and the replacement car has no front plate now...)

I was without ANY tag from June 04 (when I bought the car) until March 05 (when I was stopped twice in a week for not having tags.

Since then, I added my rear tag. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), my license mounting kit only came with a single screw to mount the holder to the grill. So I never installed it. I was pulled over for speeding twice in April 05. Neither time did the cop bother to come around to see if I had a front license plate.

FP's or not, because of the threat of class-action lawsuits and pressure from the insurance companies on local PDs many cities are disposing of red-light cameras/shortened yellows. They cause more rear-end accidents than revenue generation and challenged as a violation of Ex Post Facto(after-the-fact rulings) laws. Really, ya think?! Can't reason or discuss extenuating circumstances(road rager, medical emergency, traffic back-up) with a camera on a metal pole can you?

Funny how strategies are put in place in the name of *cough*"safety" end up doing the opposite, but that's gov't for ya.

You mail it along with that ticket in the envelope provided. I've gotten tons of these, I used to work in GG Park.
