My Experience @ Alhambra Mazda

I had an all but great experience at Alhambra Mazda's Service dept this last Saturday, i thought i would share with the rest of the forum.
I needed a simple oil change, something I could do myself, yes, but I wanted to build a good relationship with my local Mazda dealer so that if I needed service in the future I would be able to turn to someone that I trust.

I called Alhambra Mazda Friday afternoon, spoke with Joe (A service advisor) and asked about my oil change and service specials. I set up an "appointment" to come in at 10:30 saturday morning.
I get there a couple minutes early, couldn't navigate the designated parking because there were very few spots, and the "service drive" is a set of lines painted on the ground. So i park and get out and Im not sure if he helped another lady intentionally but it didn't really bother me, he said he would be right with me. Joe doesnt remember talking to me on the phone so he puts all of my information in the computer and tells me it will be about 45 minutes.
As i sigh in relief for a painless experience at the dealer i walk down Main st to grab some Starbucks. 45 minutes passes... Im about to head back thinking I was giving them an extra 10 courtesy minutes for the service... and my cell phone rings...
It's Joe, telling me that he forgot to call me because he was too busy and they hadnt done the oil change. That after wasting my saturday morning, he had NEGLECTED to notice that I had a body kit (which is extremly obvious). They don't have a pit so he said they could put my car on the lift for an oil change and it would cost more, or I can "just take it elsewhere."
I wish I could explain the tone of the frustrating conversation, and the careless attitude of the service I received. I will never go back to that dealership, and I would recommend that If you wanted to be treated as a Mazda owner who is as enthusiastic of the brand as the dealer, to not go here.

So after wasting several hours of my time without a sincere apology i went over to the Jiffy Lube on Fremont and Valley.... THEY WERE AWESOME!!!!! Treating me with the utmost respect and a smile, my car was serviced and ready to go in LESS than 20 minutes! A++++++++++++!!!!! I will DEFINATLY use them from now on, they made my Saturday after my aweful experience with Alhambra Mazda.

I hope this helps somebody, or that you have a better experience to share with the dealer.

Outrageous

Thanks for the warning. You really should complain to the dealership's general manager about this. Someone acting like Joe has no business being in a CS position. Asking more money to put the car on the lift makes no sense, either.

i think u probably just talked to the wrong guy.

-greg in parts is a wonderful guy that i can vouch for so far...

-dale carr in service advisor is also cool. an rotary owner at that too... who also took it easy on another forum member who needed a new motor as a second owner of the car.

i dunno... i have to agree that there may be a few jackasses at that dealership. and though it is a small dealership.

but you know, giving you a heads-up on being unable to accomodate a kit'd out car was the least ur SA could've done.

dale and greg is good, never trust joe, if my dad isn't used to be their saleman, he will never take good care of me. Ricky will also help me out too. But i just simply change the oil myself or go to JRX rotary. Alhambra mazda suck. waste my time, take forever.

chuck is really friendly and entertaining too. Too bad he went to hyundai.
some interior piece fell off on my car, and that is the time I worked with Joe. He told me once the parts is here they will call me. Two weeks later i had to call and see if the part had arrive yet. It took him an hour to look it up, and the part was there 3 days after my inquire..and he kinda have this "attitude" too.
but he is not the worse..just not too friendly.
And they only have one mechanic working on sat.

I stopped at a jiffy lube once for an oil change and I was told by this guy at the front desk that they don't work with rotary engines. I guess it only takes one person to give the place a bad rep.
