AZ Need new engine advise

Hi guys, I’m new in here but have had my rx8 since 2004 brand new.
the motor has been replaced twice under warranty and needs it again,,,, what’s the best swap? And why?
Mine is a automatic cuz I drive with my hand controls ♿️
Where can I get a new motor and who is the best in Phx to work on it?

Thanks 😎

I’m at 96600 right now, the 1st engine went bad around 50,000 so Mazda replaced it under warranty, that one lasted about 20,000 and had the same issue only worse. I threw a fit and got them to replace it again under “extended warranty”. But same thing again....

Killing engines at 20,000 mile intervals kinda means the root cause was never solved. How's your catalytic converter? Were the ignition coils replaced regularly?

I know this doesn't help you get a new engine, but maybe it'll help it serve you longer.

That was where I was going. Something other than the shortblock needs to be addressed.

ignition and cat as said above. May also want to make sure the omp is working.

I’m no mechanic so bare with me please... it’s always been the common issue of low compression... sputters when it get warm, shuts off at lights kind of stuff

Yep. And compression doesn't just up and fall. Something caused it,in only 20k miles. Common root causes include neglect of the ignition system and catalytic converter. Have either been diagnosed or replaced?

As far as best swap... how much are you prepared to spend? Any swap is 10k+. Depending on level of attachment to the car, it might make sense to just replace the car. Unfortunate as that is

are the coilpacks original? If so, i'd replace them with the LS2 coils. I just bought a 2010 with a "blown motor". I swapped the coils and it cranked right up.
