Need rx8 service garage in san diego (john hine screwed me)
Been going to John hine for 10 years, and they just refused to look at my car citing some legal crap around smog test failure (CEL thrown during my smog test). Unbelievable. They've permanently lost my business.
I need a replacement garage in san diego thats nearby (I live in north PB). Anyone have any suggestions? I have just 15 days to get this CEL looked at before my reg is due.
The two codes thrown are below.
P2259 (Air system control b circuit low)
P0443 (EVAP System purge control valve A circuit).
I'm not a mechanic, I don't have garage, and I don't know how to replace the valve, or fix the first issue. I need to take it to a garage so any suggestions for actual shops that can handle rx8's, would be much appreciated.

I didn't ask anyone to look the other way. I went to a smog test. Then I called a SEPARATE dealership and asked them to diagnose and fix the engine code INDEPENDENT of any smog test. and they refused.

Oh I lost any sort of respect for Hine long ago. You can call Carlsbad Mazda, ask for Max if he’s still there, he can sort you out. As far as independents in the area, I don’t have any rotary mechanics in the area that I can recommend. DNA garage is known but in LA.

DNA is in Santa Ana, bit of a drive but worth it

you could clear the codes yourself with a reader and put a few drive cycles on it to see if they come back or if they were an anomaly.
In CA you are allowed to pay the registration before performing the smog check. I've done it several times just to not incur any late fees from the DMV because as we know, those add up quickly. The DMV or AAA will log the payment but will not issue tags until the smog is done but that buys you valuable time.
I assume the car drives okay?
My suggestion is bring it up to a shop in OC, yes that's a bit of a drive but I'm certain DNA or NeptuneSpeed in HB can get the vehicle diagnosed quickly and then you just bring it back for any necessary repairs.
