TEAM Racing has a couple of events coming up at Thunderhill:
Fri March 18
Thu April 28

I am registered for April 28 (most groups are full) but the March 18 date was just added. I'll likely be at both events.

Wow, that should be a fun couple of weeks. I was at Laguna a few weeks back with NCRC; my mostly stock RX8 certainly felt a little underpowered at the track with all the Corvettes in my run-group. That track has too many straights.

I hope to have the procharger dialed in with a new pulley system that wont slip
and making a solid 300-325 RWHP. The corvettes will be surprised when I dont go away so easily on the straight.

The current price of $160 increases after Friday for the 3/18 event. I hope to see another RX8 or two there.

NCRC at thunderhill March 5th and 6th still have a few open spots. $125 for plenty of track time. Weather says a few occasional showers are possible but don't let that scare you off, it is still a lot of fun and you actual learn more driving in the rain.

Thanks, but I should have taken first. It took me all day to get a full session in and when I finally did I couldn't put together a clean full lap. My best lap came in at 2:05.5 but the car and I should be able to do a 2:02 or less if I keep it clean and fast.

Marty is the S2K guy? Where you there or was it posted somewhere? He seems like a cool cat and he knows how to drive the wheels of his car. Following him actually helped me pick up some time, but I have him on other turns and I out brake him.

Overall a good day, got some good data that will help me setup the car better for tomorrow. That's if I decide to make adjustmens and it stays dry. I'd it rains all day I should smoke umm. I think I'm one of the few guys with hoosier rain tires. I'm excited about giving them a try.

Marty is the s2000 guy. He also tracks Rx7s, and Miatas. He's in my facebook, and S2000 forum. He's a crazy driver (lol). I've gone in road trips with him.

Crazy is right. Sunday was in the rain and he was out there with his dry track setup. 255 nto1's and some crazy 950/650 spring rates. Some how he still managed a respectible time 2:33 (I think) with the by-pass. I have hoosier wets so as soon as I learned the tires and was able to get in more then 5 laps, I killed him by putting down a 2:28. I swear I could have done a 2:22 if I had a few more laps.

I did however have a little Oops. Nearly crashed the car coming out of turn 15 (onto the straight). Hit the throttle a little hard and a little too early. To a 360 and brushed the edge of the inside wall between the track and the hot pit. No real damage to the car. Just a little paint on my already cracked bumper.

Videos will be posted as soon as possible.

Isn't that the last turn 'till you get to the long straight?

I like turn 15...

Yep that's it. I guess every rain track day several people spin just like I did. Most hit the wall but I got lucky.

I started a new thread. Trying to gauge interest in a dyno tune and track weekend at thunderhill on July 9-10. https://www.rx8club.com/west-rx-8-forum-34/gi-nor-cal-dyno-tune-suspension-tune-track-weekend-thunderhill-213012/

Yes im #18. Is the pic of my car up against the wall? My battery was toast and I couldn't restart the car. I had been push starting it all weekend.

Here is my fastest complete lap on saturday. I am not real happy with my driving, I couldnt seem to put together a full lap where I made no mistakes. I honestly believe I can run a 2:00-2:01 lap with no real modifcations to the car.

And the Spin out near miss of the wall.

That's the same spot I almost lost control the first time I went to Thunderhill. I had traction control so that saved my butt. LOL. The picture is up against the wall, and there's an s2000 exiting on the right.

That's very good driving. I could barely get to 100mph on the straights in the s2000CR. I dynoed at 217hp at the wheel. I need to try the rx8 someday.

BUMP

My next track day will be Fri June 24th at thunderhill with NCRC as long as I get my car done by then. New motor and some custom work needs to be done.

Also check out my GI thread for July 9-10 dyno/tune/install/track weekend at thunderhill. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=213012

I wish NCRC would hurry up and get the year-end dates for Laguna Seca posted!

+1, But they wait and find the open and cheaper days to rent the track. Thats how they keep prices so much lower then everyone else. We are not all high rollers like you.

LOL.
I should be so fortunate. So far, the Laguna Seca event last month was the first track event this year that came out-of-pocket. I'm still recovering from that - it was an expensive weekend, not including the CHiP citation.
