San Jose is perfect, but I'll go anywhere. I might even drive out - depends on prices/timing/etc.

You guys should designate/elect one person to organize the event Secure a location, convince them to give you a "bulk" rate on the dyno - $600 - $800 for an 8 hour session is typical - and then get people to commit to it by paying at least a $50 deposit for their slot.

If you get 10 people to commit, you are only talking $60 to $80 each for the dyno time (and that would get them 1/2 hour or more each, which is plenty for a bunch of pulls).
Then, assuming all 10 are MazdaManiac AccessPORT customers, it would only be another $60 each for the tuning (which is 80% off my normal rate).
That is $120 to $150 for custom tuning.

To put that into perspective, we had a dyno day down here for the RX-7 guys with a well-known tuner and a similar schedule. Each shelled out about $450 to get tuned.

Yeah I get that, I was just curious performance wise would there be a difference between having it "tuned" by MM vs. using a base map that's supposedly pretuned for stock?

more I think about it, as long as the price is not drastically different from the socal one, I'll definitely be there. I've been looking for a chance to put the 8 on a dyno.

Making a list is pointless until someone secures a facility and a date.

 

If no one working on a location and date I will start getting it togeather. People who are interested, please PM me with a general idea of good dates or bad dates for you and a general location you are willing to drive to.

Unless I hear otherwise I am aiming for the middle of july through augest, I dont think we want this to get pushed into september.

If someone knows a good shop please provide the name, location and contact information.

Not sure what Jeff'schedule is like in July but I do know in August he's pretty open with the exception of the 9th and 30th

I say, find a shop, set a date and get everyone to work around that date. It's too hard to accommodate 10-15 people. Concord sounds good, I might I a friend with a shop in Alameda, I'll get some info if that's "central" enough for everyone.
