I have had my RX-8 for nearly three months now and have only seen two others on the road so far. I live in South Orange County.

As much as I like exclusivity I thought there would be many more on the road by this time. So that brings up the question:

Is the RX-8 selling well ?
Does anyone have sales figures from Mazda?

or maybe I just don't get out enough. Anyone it is always good to see another RX-8 on the road.

 

i have sighted at least 15. and have been acknowledged by at least 5 of them.

I am still curious as to how many they have sold. The initial data indicated that they had sold 3,000 cars in the US (when the BHP number was revised and buyback or free maintenance + $500 was offered) in the first month. Should this trend be linear that accounts for 36,000 cars in one year.

I believe that there is worldwide capacity of only 60,000 Renesis engines per year (according to Mazda) therefore I doubt there will be 36,000 cars in the US only.

This is an unscientific guess on my part that Mazda is planning(hoping) for 25,000 RX-8s per year in US/Canada.

What do you think ?

 

i've seen 2 on the road ever, barring the test drives coming in and out of the dealer, and i'm at the northern end of los angeles by angeles forest. and neither time was i driving the 8 either :|

I've had mine for three months today and I'm in Anaheim Hills and work in HB. I've only seen 2 rx8's. someone posted rx8 sale numbers in another thread I think under rx8 dissusion. They said over 2 thousand were sold last month

Live in Newport Beach, work in Santa Ana. The only 8's I see come out of the Mazada office on Red Hill.

here in 29 palms. go to Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, and Palm Desert quite often. So far I've seen a titanuem silver one, a yellow one, and apparently theres a yellow and a blue one here on base but for the two weeks since I've first heard that I have yet to see them. Anybody live around these places? Been trying to find someone out here.

Saw a girl in a black RX-8 yesterday in La Habra. We were both in the same parking lot; she was parking, I was leaving. I waved and gave a thumbs up as I drove past her and she just stared at me blankly. Come on girl, give some love!

She was the only other RX-8 I've seen on the road and technically we weren't on the road.

 

I've seen quite a few. Actually at my good friends house, this chick that used to have a DC2R (integra type-r) had her car stolen so she now has a rx-8 thats velocity red with red/blk interior like me.... what a biter! at least I got clear corners - WOOT!

Last night some silver one with an appearance package hit me up and, I have seen 1 blue one, 1 red one, 1 silver one, 1 titanium one, on one street in Irvine alone. I have seen MikeB's car cuz he came to my shop and I have also seen random people on the 405 freeway...

 

I've had mine for 1 month and a week and I've only seen two. One about a week ago silver and one yesterday red basic. The heads turn when I pass though. It's like they've never seen one on the road. It's almost like if it doesn't have Z or Q on it don't buy it.

Oh Ya, I get a lot of "thumbs up" from people in other cars, quite a few have stopped me while getting in or out and with compliments.
