I just ended up buying a kit. I already had one ballast, but to buy one more ballast and two H11 bulbs would have cost around $200. I found a complete kit online for $219, so I ended up buying that. I figure I can sell the ballast on ebay for a lot more than $19, so in the end this will be the cheaper route.

Oh boy, I love building sub boxes. Let me know when you're gonna do it.
What do you have in there now?

I went with the 8000K set up because my head lights are 8500K, this way they will match.

8500K is the Mazda spec HID headlamp...or did you upgrade that as well? If your headlamps are upgraded, do you know what (K) the stock HID's are?

So these would fall in the "white" spectrum..so a better match to the stock HID headlamps would probably be the 5000K ballast kit for the foglamps. Yours match and are both upgraded, falling in the "blue" spectrum...I assume I have this right. Thanks for the info.

I remember you asking whether your lights were brighter..they definately looked cleaner and brighter. I cant imagine what it will look like with matching foglamps.

All your info is correct. It's funny because my headlights appear brighter to other drivers, however, they actually produce less light than the stock HID bulbs. The addition of the HID fog lights will more than compensate for the loss of lumes due to high bulb temperature. In the end I will probably have twice the light of the stock system.
