I guess can say i have a little addiction to speed. (AdictiveRx :D)
I was under the same assumption...so what did Charles say, or what have you learned that makes you no longer fear the possible damage that NOS can have on the engine.

I was looking at FI (turbo), but was given horror stories of blown apex seals and such...and comments from companies like Racing Beat and Mazda Trix that the Renesis engine wouldn't be able to handle anything more than 6 or 7 psi because of its high compression. Wouldn't NOS have a similar effect on the engine (with compression)?

Also, the kit you are contemplating...what kind of system is it and how/when would it be used.

FI works quite a bit differently. As you know, a turbo simply forces air at a higher pressure through the intake manifold and into the "cycinder" to boost the horsepower. Nitrous oxide, on the other hand, adds more fuel to the engine while mixing it with the nitrouse. Combustion temperatures within the chamber are high enough to actually separate N2O into its seperate elements (oxygen and nitrogen). And we all know what happens to pure oxygen when ignited...Boom! So, With the introduction of higher fuel levels and pure oxygen, you end up with a LOT of power.
As for the horror stories, Turbos put a great deal of stress on every part of the drivetrain. While the older rotaries like the RX7 had many problems with the apex seals, The RX8 with its RENESIS has been greatly improved upon. I have not heard to many stories about major problems with turbos, but then again, not many have it. The same holds true for those with Nitrous, but with the right tunning and a mellow head, any major upgrades can be done "safely."

I am going to get the ZEX kit like Charles got. I plan to stay at a 55 shot so I wont have to deal with upgrading any parts.

Whew... I really did my research huh?! :D

Thanks for the offer!! But I will be doing it myself. I havent ordered the kit yet, I am trying to save for a bike. I should b placing the order in about 2-3 weeks give or take. I found the complete kit on ebay (with purge valve and remote bottle opener) for about 600. I figure I will need to spend about 700 after everything. I do however, need to find a quiet place to work on it since I dont want anyone knowing. My friends tend to drop by unannounced so I cant work at home. Maybe when I get the kit, We can install it together at your house Rasp :D
I would provide the tools of course. In exchange, I will allow you to be the first to ride in the car with me D:D

55 shot?....is that a measurement of how much is used?...how long/the duration of the "burn" (I think that is a viseo game term)...a ratio of NOs to fuel?...this is something completly new to me.

This set up shoots automatically at WOT. Of course, there is an Arming switch that mst be on.

It will continue to "shoot" untill the bottle runs out. With a ten pound bottle, you can do about 15-25 1/4 mile runs, with 55 shot nozzle

("55 shot," "65 shot," etc, means 55 horsepower at the wheels instantly)

(55 shot=55 hp) at 700 bucks...wow...that is a bargain at even twice the price..or 10 times the price if you compare the 60 hp gain with the Greddy setup.

You indicated earlier that 55 is a safe startup..and that you wouldn't have to convert other stock parts....if you were to go higher, what would need to be upgraded?

Don't forget that whatever mods you already have or plan to add, mainly ehaust and intake, will greatly show an increase of power when using NOS.

adictive- Let me know when you wanna do it. How far are you from LAX?

Hopefully, you don't join his other notorious club, the "I had to replace my transmission and show up to an OC club event with an SUV" club .

Here's the funny, but not so funny thing about that post...after I made it I started to have problems with the shift from 1st to 2nd....it seems like it just doesn't want to slide in. I had problems with this when I first got the car, and grinded 2nd a couple of times. I just ignored this as I thought it was operator error (in learning more about driving the 8)....but now, it seems different and may require me to talk to the dealer.

How long will the dealer have your car? Did they provide you with a rental (I forgot..was the white SUV your rental?).
