well, not all art is visual, my friend... Macs are a must-have to make music!

actually, i don't think apple's going to be refreshing the mac pro's anytime soon. <sigh> going to probably put in my order tonight or tomorrow. then my wallet will be thin again for a while. i have $1K worth of **** i need to install on there too once it gets here.

oops did i just swear in the presence of a mod? speaking of which, i think it's really not fair. i see tons of regular members starting threads & selling non-rx8 & non-car stuff on this forum like ALL the time. the one single and only time i've ever asked if anyone wanted to buy my extra snowboard helmet- i get bitch slapped. so, i just kept it out of spite. what's up with that?

Unless u want to get those small 7" - 10" laptop which are only 300-400 dollars. Lenovo s10, and dell and asus makes them and they are consider budget portable laptop that runs window xp or vista. Nower day laptop can run decent game. My bro used to have a dell that ran cyrsis on it at med setting using the 9400 nvidia graphic card so i dunno. I just waiting for one game "LEFT FOR DEAD" and that should run on most laptop.
I must have missed the reason why nufan still only has 1 post count... Speaking of which, i used to have over 11,000 posts on [H]ard|OCP... Not very proud of it, but i used to know my stuff

I'm really looking for a netbook, not just a smaller laptop. My T42P is pretty small as laptops go -- 15", 1600x1200res which was great at the time. I'm looking for a ~7" book with decent battery life and the ability to easily fit in my bag or on my bed The Asus eeePC comes to mind but i'm still looking around. My bro used to have a Sony T series, nice, but too expensive for what little it could do.

then check out the s10 by lenovo. it cost like 390 after the 15% off they have. It got great review. Cheaper then the sony and is a 10" unlike the asus EEE the ee is ok but i feel the lenovo have a better built.

btw jerry , you kno, you can install mac os x on any PC machine right?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaTWTMxXjH0

So really there are no different from pc and mac. Just the hardware that's all. Everything the mac have is the same as any pc. The only different is that apple brand you have and the nice little design but overall, apple are using pc hardware from what 2000? They use to built their own cpu and etc and that's where i respected them cause it was different. Now it isn't anymore. They don't even you that slogan anymore THINK DIFFERENT. probably should rename and call think the same as pc.

if u followed the history of apple's cpu development, then u'd know apple had no choice but to switch to intel... power pc (ppc) started as a joint venture btwn apple, motorola, and ibm. and ibm & motorola let apple down, because neither company could (1) produce enough cpu's to meet apple's supply needs and (2) advance ppc r&d development to keep the platform competitive vs. intel and amd platforms.

in order to stay competitive they had to stop using ppc cpu's.

ibm is a stupid company that could never get their **** together. apple was one of their biggest cpu customers and they totally screwed them over. instead they focused ppc development for their own **** unix servers. and, then spent god knows how much $ on the cell processors for sony PS3. motorola always only cared about making ppcs for their mobile ****. so apple got shafted by both of those jerks.

Honestly, I know there are a lot of Laptops and Desktops in continuation paralleled to the Macs that can out-perform or match the specs. But to stand biased about these particulars is unfair. Like Nufan, he is a cool guy and a nice friend who is trying to save me a couple of bucks. Unfortunately, in my own perspective I consider my spending to be profitable in my own way, why you may ask. Well, certainly I believe that you get what you pay for (A BIG IMO RIGHT HERE). Before you go on arguing that point, think about it, if money was no issue and you don't have the experience or any connection to building your own gaming PC, wouldn't you fork out the money and buy a Alienware or Voodoo? They are extremely expensive for the Specs you get, but hey, if money ain't a problem, I'm sure you would jump on it with the highest of specs. I know right now money IS a problem, especially in this crumbling economy. I just think that whichever Personal Computer you decide to run with it, is solely your decision. Trying to change one's point of view is great, but don't compel it to a point you're pissing the other person off. Apple computers are great, I love their products (even the goddamn Apple TV). But I also admire companies like Acer or Asus coming out with VERY affordable PCs. Bottom line, PCs are personal computers, we choose them according to our budget, our needs and our preference.

This is mainly for Nufan, whom is very pragmatic about his predilection interpretations.

it isn't the money problem at all. for desktop pc are better. cmon most apple desktop are pure crap. you buy it and you can't upgrade the parts? wth is that. I own a alien ware before when the money problem wasn't a big deal. I would say it is ok for what you pay for. But gaming to me is kinda dead t hat's y i m looking for something a bit more use for daily uses. i was looking into a macbook before i bought my hp and i realize that spending 2k on something that i can barely use is kinda i dunno. most of my progarm won't run on a mac for myself. btw the guy that looking for a small laptop just get what ever. the SSD are interchangable so you can just buy one from frys and just switch it out. They are the same sharp of a regular laptop hdd. Seen them in store and they use the SATA cable to be connected. Ohh jerry ibm company is real funnie lmao. my teacher used to work for them and he always call them I"LL BE MOVING cause they can never decide what to go with. THe only reason i like lenovo right now cause they aren't just aimming at business consumer but a whole right like the new ideapad they came out with. the T series are great for people like lion zoo but people like me who want everything in one would go with the ideapads. that's where i though it was a good direction to go with. Plus u can still install window xp on them. some companies like Hp are require to use vista only and can not be erase which really **** me off.

ok- just put in my web order...

am getting a Mac Pro dual quad-core 2.8GHz with the base config but w/ a 500GB drive & wireless option since those were only about $80 extra combined. (i'll get extra drives for work space separately- apple charges too much for that ****.)

w00t! am finally getting this going... i've had Logic Studio, Office 2008, iLife 08, and MOTU PCIe I/O card boxes sitting in my living room for like 2 months now... talk about procrastination, eh? =P

FYI, Newegg.com has good deals on 1.5TB drives, surprisingly good $/GB ratio. I just got two

Do mac users have to pay for all their software? IMO, all versions of office after 2002-2003 are bleh
