that's good to know... i was at my cousin's house today for x-mas, and i had no idea he got a bmw z4 m with black n red interior... he let me test drive it., and that thing is loud. but it has nice torque... the interior is really nice & the ride was a bit stiff, but m cars usually are like that.

I'd be curious to try that. I think I will need some practice with sliding the RX-8 though. I think my recent accident demonstrated a point that has been lingering in my driving style since my snow driving days at Cornell; namely I will sometimes not return the car to center quickly enough when correctly slides, causing the car to overshoot and forcing a correction the other way.
I also played around with my left fender, but I had a lot less luck with that than with the nose and in the end it ended up about where the bodyshop left it. I might try something more extensive on the day I try to get the oil cooler in though. If I can get my gaps back to what it was before I think I could start doing my own bodywork.

hmm... you mean drifting? the 8 supposedly is a difficult car to drift. but, i seem to have no problems drifting in turns when i intentionally overpower the turn. i try not to do it cuz of concerns of crossing the double yellow. but, i want to be able to also hard turn without drifting... br but i know if you enter the turn hard, brake & turn the wheel, the 8 will do a controlled drift. it's kinda fun actually... tho i now not good for the tires. :/
i wonder if paintless dent repair might be able to fix some of the body panel alignment- since that's technically, paintless as well...

Yes drifting more or less. I seem to have no problems with my other tires in terms of controlling the RX-8 in a drift, though in reality my driving style is a bit like Sebastien Loeb's (just MUCH MUCH slower) in that I don't use a lot of slip angles and I generally try to get the car pointed as quickly as possible. That's possibly why I respond so much better on the more point and squirt roads like Little T and Yerba Buena than the faster flowing roads like Angeles Forest. Getting the car into a slide has always been a little bit of a weakness for me. I've only had issues sliding the RX-8 when it was wet out before, but this time the cold temperatures probably simulated wet conditions pretty well. Under normal circumstances controlling the RX-8 in a slide isn't a problem, but this accident highlighted areas that I need to work on.
I'm not sure paintless will do the alignment any better than others, but I'll keep them in mind as an option. Regardless the nose is coming off in another week or so anyway for the oil cooler so I'll have a crack at aligning it myself. I have an idea of what I need to do, but I think the front left fender was slightly tweaked in the accident and this is why the panels don't line up perfectly. Of course, you guys all know what kind of standards I try to hold.
