Need some computer advice guys:

Think it's time to upgrade my motherboard / cpu. I found this on Tigerdirect....what do you guys think?

-Gigabyte K8NE NVIDIA Socket 754 ATX Motherboard
-AMD Athlon 64 3400+
Total Price = $219.99

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...828854&CatId=0

Sound like a good deal??
Xrider, Cesar, Krazie, etc.... what do you guys think?

It's being used mostly for gaming and playing World of Warcraft....

i just found this in a thread in the west section on rx7club......
mainly read the second paragragh

""""Just returned from a succesful run to Autobacs. There were about 30 cars there. Some S2000 Some Subies and about seven 2nd gens. Acouple of 7 club members were there. eatmyclutch and spirit 7, both really good ppl. There were some other really nice ppl but not on the boards

Apperantly, Jilongie has weilded his charm with that crew as well as the West section. They can't take him anymore. But he wasn't there anyway. They said he never comes around. I think the last straw was him talking **** to the guy from RRR........."""""

and heres one response..... """"Fantasy7? Spirit 7, also. Yeap, James is the talk of the town now. hehe Good stuff meating you.""""""

if you all remember, jilongie (james) was the guy in the blue fc that everone couldnt stand! apparently nobody else can stand him either!

Interesting post Viper. This post, along with Toca's stories of James and his full racing suit just bring a sly smile to my face.

whoa! someone is having some fun on ebay...

hmm, found another motherboard / cpu combo: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...752&CatId=1734

this one has an AGP slot instead of PCI express. Either way I'm getting a new video card but just not sure which one I'd rather have. My big concern is having to upgrade RAM again.... I just got a gig of pc 2100 ddr last year. Oh well, what can you do.

I don't really need the latest and newest, just something superior to what I have now. (amd 2000+, msi motherboard, GForce2 video card)

My ideal system at this time:
3400 Athlon 64
256 ddr video card
1gb ram

Don't know much about Gigabyte motherboards though.

Maybe Krazie will find out more info for you.

Krazie, you da man!!

A buddy of mine called and here's what he suggested. (what do you think?)

MSI K8N Neo 4

XfX Geforce 6600

AMD Athlon 64 3400+

- 2 gigs of DDR 400 Ram.

Sounds pricey...

Cesar,

Thanks for looking into that for me!
Yeah, I'm a bit leery of the Gigabyte motherboard as well so I think I might just end up buying the components seperately.

Something you should note is that the socket 754 is the older socket, and the CPU you are looking at with at gigabye mb is OEM.

1. Try to stay with the newer technology socket which would be socket 939

2. Try to stay with a RETAIL not OEM processor, simply because with the RETAIL products, you get a longer warranty.

if you'd like, i can get you:
- MSI Socket 754 motherboard
- AMD Athlon 64 3400+ OEM CPU (which i dont reccomend) but heres the price for it...
for $230 w/ out any rebates

Is is some chromish looking sticker thing that goes on top of the rotor bump on your hood. It has some awful red flames on it as well. FUGLY.

Hey guys,

Looks like the So Cal RX-8 Club is having their annual drive again.

We should look into this: So-Cal RX 2006 Annual Multi-County Road Tour - 4

Here's the thread

Looks like they had 30-40 cars at the last run...I think it's time for Rotorlution to crash this party. How awesome would it be to caravan with 50 other Rotories?!
I'm definitely up for something like this....should be tons of fun!

I know it's right after our monthly meet but this looks like a lot of fun. I make this drive pretty often and I think it would make for some GREAT photo shoots! (Next year's Calendar page)

This falls right between our meet and the next scheduled autocross...so timing is excellent. This is a must for us guys....lets do a meet up in Rancho and go for the meet location at Griffith park. Who's with me? Should be about a hundred dollar day for gas and food. But once a year, or maybe once a life...

does sound like fun, I ill defanitly consider it. mostly depends on what else I have going on at the time. I saw the pics last time, and it did look like a lot of fun.
It would be pretty cool to get a bunch of us ROTORLUTION peeoples together for this.

Thanks everyone for the Birthday wishes. I got to go out of town to celebrate. But now I have lots of catching up to do. I'm too tired to read much now, but I saw something about a big meet the week after the usual meet. My barn goes in Friday, after that I should be able to catch up on reading. But I plan on making the April meet and maybe the other one.

Yeah Zoo, you should try to make that big RX-8 cruise....it's only once a year and I think we'd all have a blast driving out there together and then taking pics with all those beautiful cars.
