OH: we'll need a few clay bars though for the zaino party if you guys are interested. Mothers sells some pretty good ones at Autozone, pepboys, etc. I'd suggest buying 2 of them since they get slippery and if you drop it on the ground, you have to throw it out.

I dropped one last time I clayed my car...thank goodness I had a back-up.

Keith & Erica: It's such a bummer that you guys are running so great and yet you have to change the flash in your car. I've spent HOURS reading up on the flash and here's what I've gotten out of it: (good news / bad news time)

Good news: By richening the fuel mixture some people are seeing a little extra pulling power in the mid rpm ranges. (somewhat supported by a dyno I saw somewhere...)
- Power is not dropping off much at the higher rpm's as some anticipated.

Bad news: For about a week or two (while your car "learns" the new flash), you can expect your idle to be a bit weird; lower when car is cold, and even flucating more then usual
- Engine takes slightly longer to crank in the morning. Not as bad as the "old" starters but not as nice as some of us have it now.
- Keith, you're not gonna like this but you "might" see a slight drop in MPG with the richer formula. Not everyone has seen a drop but I've read about a few ppl losing a little.

If you truly hate the new flash, it is always an option to do the RB flash (I know, it's a bit pricey for 2 cars but I've had extensive talks with Zoom44 via instant messenger and he swears it's the best $300 you'll spend) RB is in Orange County so the turnaround to get it reprogrammed won't affect you guys like it would others who have to ship via UPS.

Also: I was thinking a lot about this flash and where the performance gains would be minnimal for someone like me (no Auto Xrossing) I think the top end power they've unleashed would be GREAT for you guys! For me, the lowering of the temperature fans alone could be worth my money... (sorry for all the post whoring I've done....)

yeah, I've read the same thing about richening of fuel..along with worse mileage, there is some additional concern with the cat being able to handle the increased load to burn emissions. I would forsee a bad cat coming.

I would love to get a supercat. Now that I've heard Cesar's exhaust, I want it sooooo bad. So, I would either consider a louder sound by changing the exhaust, or changing the cat.....If I changed both, it may be too loud, but then again, I would save weight since the RB exhaust is so heavy.

Go ahead and post more....let the black 8's take over an entire page .

edit: oh, and clay bars, yes...we can pick up a couple.

Cesar i will be putting a PM into Truemagellen today to get a status since i have not heard anything.
I wouldn't let Romero even see my car as I drove by.

If you're not getting Zaino, there's a lot of guys in the show/shine thread that like the Turtle Wax ICE or Meguir's NXT.
To be honest, if I didn't order the Zaino, I'd probably buy the TW Ice.

FWI - For those of you who won't be using the Zaino kit, you should still think about claybaring your car. I bought a cheap claybar kit at Autozone for $10. Claybar is claybar. You don't need to buy an expensive kit. In fact, if you can just buy the claybars alone, you can use the clay w/ a soapy water solution and a spray bottle.
It's very easy to do, I can help you if needed.

where have you read they richened the A/F ratio.

They made the MOP richer.

That's your oil flow. They did that because it was too lean at cruise and caused engine failures.

Mine seeems to run like a BAT out of Hell with the new flash.

And it's not the reset as I just finnished HDPE. Could be better plugs.

the bastards wouldn't change the trailing plugs and give me a gas fillup. they wanted $200

So I changed them myself. The rear were correct colr but had build up.

Also, you need to check the plugs yourself as they didn't use any anti seize. The were not too tight but you guys in the Inland Empire need anti seize on the threads due to the heat.

In fact all the rotories need it.

Haha - Took me 2 hours to do that last post. I got distracted at work, then I went to lunch. Now I posted it, and there's been tons of post in between.

Anyways, as far as the Zaino goes, I'm going to need it for my dad's Porsche mostly. It a 1990 Carrera, and I don't think it's been shown any paint/detail lovin' in years.
That car is probably going to get the "Jedi-Zaino-Treatment" also known as the "So-Many-Coats-It-Will-Change-The-Weight-Of-The-Car-Treatment".

You guys could by a kit for Keith/Erica/Loren's car.

I'm bored at work so I did the Recon work for you Loren.

Turtle Wax Ice 16 oz = $16.99
Turtle Wax Ice Detailer Spray = $9.99 (if this is anything like Z6 Zaino, you just spray a little bit on at the end and wipe off for an enhanced shine)

Get at least 1 Claybar if you're planning on stripping off the wax (around $10 for Mothers) and make sure you get Microfiber wax application pads. (very important) AutoZone has some that they sell in a 3 pack (I think they're gold in color)

I knew about the MOP, but I thought they were making the A/F richer in order to lower CAT temps.

Detrich, I got you covered on this one!
A claybar is pretty much a hunk of clay that you rub on the car in an effort to remove debris, overspray, waterspots, or pretty much anything that could be 'stuck' to the surface of your paint.
You do however need to spray some type of fluid on the car first of you'll make a mess and most likely destroy the clear coat. My trick is to use VERY diluted car wash soap in a spray bottle. If you spray often enough, it's SUPER easy to clay a car. It feels just like gliding a hockey puck across the ice....sssmmmoooooootttthhhhh.

Your car needs to be completely clean when you do this (right after a wash is necessary) and when you're done, your poor car looks like hell again because it's got small amounts of car wash soap that have partially dried on the car. No biggie though, the paint is so smooth afterwards that you just wash it again (this goes by quick since you're not removing any dirt from the car) and your car looks like THIS:

(sorry, cheap plug.... I know, I know.. )

Jedi, since Cesar has allocated my Zaino dibs to a non-rotary car :P, would you mind linking me, and telling me what I need to order. I'll order it tonight so that I can have it for our party....which is when exactly?

Alright, I am going on the assumption that we have no car washing supplies and we're getting you an all new supply. (which probably isnt' correct but better safe then sorry and forget something)

- Zaino Total Protection Pkg This is the priciest thing you'll be getting but it'll be enough for all 3 cars and worth every penny.

- Microfiber towels are a must. Cotton towels = Swirl marks on our soft paint. I normally order mine online from www.fiber-works.com but I'll admit that their prices aren't the greatest. (though the quality IS) I haven't had a chance to really look into the ones at Auto parts stores but I think Costco has some pretty good ones. Cesar, any input here?
We'll need a lot of towels since we need to wash the cars twice if we're clay barring and we'll also be removing the Zaino with large microfiber towels.

- Microfiber wash mit. You'll DEFINITELY need a good one of these. This will help against swirl marks in the future. Here's the one I use: Microfiber Wash Mit

- 2 claybars are included in the kit so if we're going for 3 cars, we'll probably need at least 1 or two extra. (in case one falls to the ground) I can't find a link for just the clay bar (just the damn detailing kit which you dont' need) but I'm sure they're only about $10 at a local auto parts store.

- Spray bottles (2): Get some new ones from Home Depot. $1-$2 each.

I've got some other stuff I can bring if you guys need that will help us with the rest of the cars: wheel cleaning brushes, buckets for soap and water, glass cleaner, wheel polish, etc.
All of this sounds like a lot of work but trust me when I say this: It's really not all that much work. We'll need to set aside a BIG chunk of our day for all 3 cars but most of the time is spent in between coats waiting for the zaino to 'dry'. If we can work together on the cars, this could go pretty smoothly.

Erica's car is fine....mine, on the other hand, will need a lot of work. If I'm able to get the stuff by Saturday, would you be interested in coming over Sunday....or I could come down to you?
