Do you guys know if urethane bumpers are repairable, it turned out I also have a crack in the corner by the grill. Also does anyone know if the insurance comp will have someone come take a look at my car or will I have to send in pictures? I'm going to see if they will let me get a different bumper.

jun,
the insurance co. issues the check after their own adjuster has seen the damage and agrees to the body shop's estimate or if it's a pre-approved shop, then usually the process is faster. since it sounds like you're going to use your insurance, then you should begin by (a) initiating a claim (b) then locate a body shop and (c) have the insurance company approve the estimate and (d) upon approval the body shop will begin the repair. when the repair is completed, you will pay your deductible to the body shop directly and you'll endorse the check the insurance company issues so that the body shop can cash it. if your insurance won't cover the type of bumper you want, then what you do is let the body shop know you'll pay for the difference. and, that way they can make sure the estimate is presented to the insurance company in the way that they'll acccept.

yes, what Detrich is saying is how I handled the situation where I was rear ended. The body shop wrote up an estime of what it would cost to repair the parts that were currently on the car. They wrote me a check for that amount. I then used the check, and some of my own cash, to get the parts I wanted.
The insurance company will not purchase the umper you want, they will only reimburse you for the parts that were on your car at the time of the loss. They also typically give you better claims for OEM parts, rather than aftermarket...another reason why i went with true MS parts...since these are direct factory replacements...I know I won't have to argue over prices.
Take your car to the shop...the more they find that they need to replace, the bigger the estimate wil be....once you get the total, you can see if it would be worth ordering parts on your own.
Try to get the shop to let you keep your stock parts...you may be able to recoup some of your costs by selling bits and peices to other forum members.
