OH, it's like those famous houses in Fountain Valley! Do they let you drive your car in at all or just walk? sounds like FUN.

LOL, just read this....guess I'll be going with my 1 horse power ride group. From Alta Loma Riding Club...
To get more into the Christmas spirit, we will be riding through the lights at Thoroughbred on December 13th. We will meet at Heritage Park at 6pm, and ride over to the lights. Remember to dress your horse up to show off during the light ride: lights, garland, bells, ribbons, the works. Wear reflective attire if you have it too, because we will be riding at night.
MeShell, to bad your friends don't have any horses you could borrow.
Heck too bad I don't have any extra horses, that would be fun. I'm sure you and Erica would want to ride a horse decked out in christmas lights, right? Ok, I'll stop....I obviously bored this morning.

you CAN drive through, but it is about a 2 hours and 45 minutes drive, because of all the traffic.

No star, but holiday spirit still shines
San Antonio Heights has been deprived of its trademark Christmas star this year, but residents aren't letting its absence dim their holiday spirit.
In place of the giant illuminated star - a holiday-season staple of the Inland Valley until copper thieves wrecked it earlier this year - many residents are putting smaller versions on their homes. Several have even turned up at Fire Station No. 12 on Euclid Avenue.
"A bunch of them were donated by someone in the community,"

As entertaining as it would be to image that they stole the star, they didn't.
They stole the copper wiring.
I read the article in the newspaper back in summer.
I tried looking for it recently, but couldn't find it.
Kevin posted the link above, and it reminded me the community is called San Antonio Heights, so I found the article.

Thieves strike holiday star
SAN ANTONIO HEIGHTS - The Grinch came early this year, dimming chances that a holiday star will shine above the Inland Valley this winter. Thieves used bolt cutters to slip onto Ken Petschow's hillside property June 20 and steal copper wiring worth about $15,000.Copper on the star as well as wiring intended to rebuild Petschow's home, destroyed in the October 2003 wildfire, was taken. For decades, the electric star perched on the San Antonio Heights home now...
****************************************
I don't have the whole thing because it's archived and you have to pay to get it.
Basically it said the only reason it's been lit every year is because of donations, but the donations don't cover the cost completely, and now the guy doesn't even have the wiring.
It cost thousands to keep it lit.
The star is probably still up, but no lights, although the owner may have taken it down by now.

yup..copper wiring is expensive....I would assume that they probably hacked it up into smaller pieces and are recycling it peice by piece...going down and recycling all 15 g's at one time would be an easy way to be caught.
