Thanks ULLOSE.

interesting on your thoughts of the RX8 handling over the evos handling.
The RX8 comes with a near perfect 50/50 weight distribution. AWD cars can be 60/40-70/30. So if both cars have the same size tire the fronts are already doing more work on the AWD car before you even enter a turn. Also the EVO is tall, the high CG makes for a lot of body roll.

If the RX8 just had 50 more ft of tq it would be great.

Thanks everyone that showed up. I had a blast! I love talking and hanging out with you guys!

RX OCHO. I am running the sprint springs. they say 1.8" drop, but I really think they droped it more then that.

if your interested in buying springs check out my springs, springs, springs thread. ..... make sure you post us some pictures when you get it done. what springs are you going with?
Speeddemon32, I just got my TEIN's springs today....I don't want to drop it that much cause I live in L.A and the streets are pretty rough.......and also because I wanna get a "Burnout" front lip. Thanks for the offer on those sprint springs...,..RX OCHO = Serg

KC, just to answer you...my knees were stuck in the dash that night your were sitting behind me on the test drive....but I wouldn't have even been able to get into the RX8 with you behind me. Erica and I drove with Nino and Sherry in the 8 that weekend we went and saw the movie. To be honest, I was kinda embarrassed with the lack of space for four adults....in the 8. I drive so much by myself, or with just Erica, I hadn't had to realize how useless the back seats are, for adults. Now, I have driven with kids in the back, and no problem...they like the seats,....as they slide all over the place across the simulation leather (I still question whether this is real leather)

Handling issuues....this is my bigget hangup. The RX8 makes any driver that much better. The nuetral setup is good for anyone learning....and has been an excellent car to get me into the sport. I am so lucky that this is how it worked out, and that we met Ulllose and MP% in the process. Spoke a bit to Rick in SD, and he said that the EVO was enticing, but it sounded as if he was committed to the rotary, haven come from an FD. He did comment though, that the lack of torque and power has been a lrage obstacle for him in learning how to drive the car well at each event.

I feel I have gained a lot of valuable experience in driving the 8. I am looking forward to the pro, and seeing how different cars handle out there. I'm interested to see the BS RX8's represent, as well as hopefully getting my first chance to see Team RX8's STU monster. The RX8 can be competitive, under the right track setup, and with the right driver....but in some cases, even the best drivers (like we saw this last weekend), can not make up for the lack of torque in their cars, to be perfect enough to overcome that obstacle.

To respond to Ullose's comment about me being a pu$$ at Streets...yes, it was my first time ther and I wasn't really comfrotable in wheel to wheel racing, and I wasn't ijn my car....I wasn't about to put Ghost's car on the line....was just fortunate to finally get out to one of these events to fuly enjoy the 8.

Ghost got a ride along in the pro 8 that was out there...and he will be the first to admit that driver experience and car prep can make most cars competitive. That 8 was failry stock, and was one of the fastest cars out there.

Ulllose routinely shows that his experience, in a stock 8, can woop on boys with less experieicne, with more toys oin their vehicles.

A loaner car is the best, just like a rental, they are always faster.

By "pro 8" are you talking about Chen? If you are check any of the SCCA natl club race results, he is 4 seconds off the pace of the fast T3 RX8 drivers. The last race at Fontana a stock miata and civic beat him.

so there you go...just proves that it is not the car that is making me slow...

Like I said in the autocross thread, the only way I can get close to you is a course like we had this weekend...one where the RX8 doesn't have a lot of power. My scratch time was 63.5, and included a really bad push...without it, probably would have been in the high 62's, to 63.0...close to your scratch time.....

...the only other way I can get clsoe is if it rains for you, and is dry for us (we saw this on the last event of 2006 RX8 cup)....but we also saw what time you were able to get in my own car, when you did the Instructor run with Erica in the car.

I do realize it is driver experience, and car prep, not necessarily the car.

oh, we'll still have a dog in the race....all my parts will be going on a lighter, white 8 . I will be racing that as well, in the process of building up an EVO. I ma lucky in that I have this option....Casey is not so fortunate.

well, that's because u guys are lucky to be tall. <lol> man, i wish i had that problem- seriously. but, i guess the consolation prize is fitting into most cars nicely- well, except full size trucks, where i feel like a dwarf...

hahahaha... u'r the first one to ask me about that loren.

well, i saw some other guy on the forum who had chinese in his signature, and i was like- how did he do that- cuz i tried b4 a long time ago and it didn't work. so, to be a smart ***, i just tried it again with just anything. oddly, it worked. but, then after seeing it there i thought it was funny and left it.

loosely translated it means, "f ur mom" or something like that. .. lol

looks like I will be enjoying my 8 for a while longer...as I am in the same position I was in as the last time I was looking at different car options. It is the mileage that I put on the vehicle which is moving faster than the depreciation of the car....so no switch at this point.

I sure am glad I checked the vehicle value before I started swapping parts out all across the country. I would have been screwed if I went that route.

HPDE is completely differant than autocross.

Hell I can pass nearly every car out there including the S2k.

Occassionally I can pass the STI's and EVO's. STI's are really not that much of a problem.

Most of the high HP cars will pass on the straights except in the summer.

Something about that CAI from racing beat and the heat soaked turbo's. They can't retain that large HP gain over us in 95 degree pluss heat.

You need more practice at SOW.

If you want more.......... buy a SC or Turbo for your 8 then you will have more HP and torque.

Soon your 8 will be paid off and it would be the best time to FI.

I don't think I'm gonna wait for AF SC as I do not believe it will ever come out.
I may go Pettit but most likely go for the Lotus, Porche, Corvette or the new Toyota replacement for the Supra.

Too many good new cars comming out soon. I do expect to keep the 8 though.
It may become my DD.

And if you really want something...... GO get a Wild Child. All reports are it better than an EVO for acceleration.

there was a lot of excitement & speculation about the new supra. but then it seems to have quieted down. supposedly, toyota's focusing development on the IS550 and the lexus $120k supercar that'll be competing with the new Acura NSX. it would still be nice to see a re-introduced supra, tho with a price tag to match the hp most likely...

personally though, i'd prefer to see mazda go forward with the kabura as the next gen rotary w/ twin turbos and give it that 300+ hp we are all lusting after... sadly though, by the time they get it together, the new m3 and is will all be touting 400+ hp. will we ever catch up?
