he he he ... dibs is fine. I would rather sell to someone I know.... but still looks like its a no go at this point.

the loan was through a credit union. (same one that gave me the loan for the RX-8) I have not tried to get financed through a dealer.

do not want the Evo X. it is more of a luxury sports car.... like an Audi. Blue Evo ix GSR-LE is what I want.

Well everyone it has been decided and its official. I am going to be selling my 8 and my other two cars for another 8. I just got put on the waiting list for the new Audi R8. I just got approved for a 40k loan and with the money I will get for selling my cars I will be able to get it. I also had other money saved up! The sucky thing is that I have to wait a year to get it because in the states they only make 30 a year. In other countries its being sold in they only make 15 a year. But its going to be the exact specs I want. So even though I wont have an RX8 I hope I will still be able to cruis with you guys

The base model runs for a little over 90k but the model that is going to be built for me is going to cost around about 100k maybe a bit more. They are going to be doing an unvailing here in July, and everyone who is on the list gets to test drive it. But when I went to the Cars and Coffee meet in Irvine this Sat. There was the CEO of Audi there and he had it there along with his Bugatti Veyron. Every Sat they meet there at the Ford motor Co. There are a lot of exotics there. Anyway so after he let me sit in it and I told him I wanted to get one. He said that the waiting list is about a year long. But you should hear how it sounds. I almost jizzed it was so nice. So yeah its expensive and my friend has brought up a good point to not buy it. But you only live once so to hell with it I am getting it.

@ casey's post...

wow, an r8 eh? how much does insurance and maintenance run on that thing a year? i saw the pix on audi's site, and yah- it's a beautiful car. at some angles, the front end even looks a little bit like a wider, flatter rx-8.

congrats on the purchase...

oh yeah, detrich, no there is no RX-8 only class. the RX-8 odoes very well in B stock, but we have WAY to many mods for that class. that is partially why we started the RX-8 cup... that and to have fun.

Speed I will make sure its far from your humping self lol. I too wanted to do the same thing.

Detrich
I was talking to the CEO about it and believe it or not he said that both the bugatti Veyron and the Audi R8 were styled from the Mazda RX8. He said Mazda hit the nail in the head when they built the 8. I mean if you look at the front ends of both they are similar. He said he would not be suprised if more exotics to come kinda have the same styling as the RX8. He was saying that the Audi R8 is the little brother to the Veyron.

funny... Mazda is getting copied.

back in 86 Mazda copied the 944 Porsce (how the hell do you spell that) when they made the RX-7

As for the insurance I am not sure because its not in production yet but I compaired it to the Lambo which is the same class of car and its expensive but doable. As for the up keep. I am sure its expensive. Thats the good point my friend brought up. He said that a car that nice as a daily driver is kinda a good point why not to buy it. But with the money that I am getting from the deployment that I found out that I am going on, I will be able to buy a beater or something when I get back. We will see. But you only live once and this is the car of my dreams ever since it was leaked out on the internet. I have it as a screen saver on all my computers lol. I know I am lame! But you have to make your dreams come true sometime in life.

by the way welcome to the thread. ask a lot of questions but only in here and have fun...
well, my main concerns was having a driver, who is still learning how to operate a manuel transmission, to be following me on a cruise. I would rather him be in my passenger seat, than behind me.

Many people pop in and out of this thread, not all of them really end up showing to an event or cruise....so, we'll just have to see when the time comes.

.
I feel the same way. Some people scare me when we share the road. But. . .
as long as he knows how to use the brakes, you should be fine. right?

I agree with having people you don't know following you on cruises. I know XdeedubbX had a close call with someone at the Malibu run this past month. Had he not swerved, he would have gotten rear ended.

If you guys didn't notice...on Saturday, I was constantly making sure I had someone I knew (and trusted) in front of me and following closely behind.

nope- don't see the family resemblance anywhere... hehehe (j/k of course)

speaking of which- autoweek published that bmw studied the interior of the rx-8 when they designed the cabin for the 335i.

everyone wants to be like us

see I like to put keith behind me..... just like it should be at the track. he he he....

no see I figure if Keith is behind me, and he hits me. I know my car will get fixed and his F'ed up paint will get re painted. its a win win.

Maybe next time I will just have to slam on the breaks when I see him getting a little to close.

Jedi, Detrich and I were keeping track of our cruise rules, when Scremn8 fell behind...I figured Michael was just in cruising mode.....but found out he was using our cruising rules as Loren pulled out of line and Michael was waiting up for him.

If we follow our rules, everyone is safe.

RULE Someone in front of you, and someone in back of you. Don't lose track of either one of them...if you do, slow down.

Unless you are one of the very front cars breaking away from the pack because you are driving like an idiot. in that case its ok because you are then on your own, and saving the rest from a ticket since you will pass the cop before the rest of the pack will.

sound good?

EDIT:
Just like Scotty, myself, Vipers, and Toca did
we were the cop magnets protecting the rest of the heard.

My Jedi Powers detected something was wrong so I slowed down.

When I saw Keith falling waaaaay behind, I KNEW there was something wrong with that picture. Emilie even asked me, "why are we slowing down". My reponse was, "because I'm not supposed to be able to outrun Keith by that much."

Well thats what a guy here at work told me who owns a ARS4. He has the same HP that mine will have for half the price. But they will be everywhere. The reason I bought the RX8 was because how unique and beautiful of a car it is. I dont see them around as much. I could have bought a ZO6 vett, SRT10 Ram, or any car with bigger hp the the RX8. But I would have owned a car that everyone else has or that you see everywhere. The RX8 is one of a kind and thats what I love about it. The Audi R8 is the same way. And I am not really so lucky, I mean I am putting a lot out there buying this car. I will be eating top rahmen for years but the good news is I am still paying off a 40k car loan. The rest is out of pocket so I will not be upside down ever in this car.

i c... my bad then. when michael disappeared behind me after one of those turns i should've slowed down more to see if he was going to catch up... i will be more conscientious of this next time. thanks for the reminder.
