haha, right. Tomorrow when I take it to the shop I'm going to watch the guy and try to learn everything I can, so maybe I can learn even to change the bulb, so when it goes out I can try to change it myself. Is your head lights and fog lights stock?

I replaced the fog lights with the hyper white bulbs, and the headlight marker lights are also replaced with hyper whites. (as with my side markers, front and rear turn signals, and a few on the interior lights)

actual head lights are xenon, so I cant do anything there. (nor would I want to)

I had a post here someplace whare I showed all the before and after pictures.... no Idea whare they are though.

Oh that's alright. So your saying the headlights we can't change the bulb, like to make it HID? Is HID brither than hyper whites? Or which is brither?

If you have a base model RX-8 you have HID headlights.

If you have any other model you have Xenon headlights.

Xenon is better.

also hyper whites, like what I have all thorough out my car, generally mean the bulb burn with less of a yellow tint to it. (more white, and brighter) usually there is also a tint of blue coating around the bulb to help filter the yellow out.

remind me when you come to a meet and I will show you all my lights and compare to stock.

Alright, you mean compare it to mine. Just kidding. I think mine are stock. Don't really know. I'm going to ask the guy tomorrow all that. How do I know by the way which type is mine if my headlights are base or not?

he he he.
Detrich, my only question is does my method hold tru still? I know this was the case in 04 but did they change anything in later years?

in 04 base manuals came with no fog lights, no traction controll, non "tuned" suspenssion. (better struts, stiffer sways even I think)

Keith and I suspect they changed this in 05 (at least the susspention) because Ericas struts are the exact same as keiths factory ones.

ok you have a base model. you would not have the Xenon headlights. this should mean you can change your bulb to what ever you want.

and no, you odnt have traction controll.

if it makes you feel better you have the "best" auto cross RX-8. yours weighs less. susspention crap gets replaced anyways.

..... how do you spell susspention? I am sure I am spelling that one wrong.

Well I guess mine are base. My suspenssions aren't stock. It's been lowered I think just a little bit too. My lights aren't that bright. Would I be able to change the bulb? If so which is better HID or like yours white something (sorry forgot the name already)?

non base models have Xenon... we can not change out bulbs. (nor would we want to) Xenon seems to work great. I do not have a lighting issue with the RX-8. unlike some of my other cars.

to be honest I am not a lighting guru, but I think what is in the RX-8 are already considered HIDs. although there are better ones out there I am sure. non HID head lights are the old sealed beam headlights. (I could seriously be wrong here, I am just stating what I think)

If you want more in depth info, you might be better off checking some of the other threads. maybe try a search. but at least now you know you do not have the Xenon headlights. and you DO have a base 6 speed.

Told you you could learn something hanging out with us.
