Angry Unfortunately

Therefore, you have to pay more than the MSRP to get your 8.........too bad. msrp doesn't including the tax, title, and license fees. Moreover, i just heard the radio today monring, and our governor said that TAX will increasing soon. everybody have to pay $250 extra as average every year in CA. i want to order the Titanium Gray, 6 speed manual, black leather, and grand touring pkg for my RX-8. So, i will go Alhambra Mazda next Monday to make sure all the prices.

I did my online order and selected Alhambra Mazda as my dealer. They finally called yesterday and said that they won't give MSRP. So I went to Irvine Mazda tonight and became the 9th person to complete the pre-order (this means my baby is in the second batch ).

If you go to Irvine, ask for Kin Tjandra. He is very nice and not at all slimey like the other dealers.

I went to Caliber Mazda in Norco. They won't give me MSRP but they will order the car with the options I want. They won't commit to anything.

Went to Alhambra Mazda, didn't seemed like they want to do business. Asked about the price, no guarantee, but I feel they will have a huge mark up for the 6spd MT. Auto they might give you MSRP if you negociate. So I left and phoned a couple mazda dealers, the only one around my area is Browning Mazda that offer pre-ordering, spoke with Bob Watts, drove there put down my deposit; From what heard, they have submitted the rest of the order for 1st allocation satursday (deadline), sold 4 already, still have a few left which they still have until Tuesday to finalize the configuration/changes; When the car come out on show room, there will be no guarantee on MSRP.

I was quite surprise how small the the pre-ordering window is for the first allocation.

Got mine: Winning Blue, GT 6SP Blk Leather with Nav, it'll take a week or so before a confirmation number is given.

Unhappy

i went to the Alhambra Mazda today, too. There are five people on the list already, and the salesman siad that two cars will there as the first delivering. However, the young salesman said that they can't give me the msrp when the 8 came out, for the price will mark up few k more. He said that the 8 is a so popular a car as S2000 and 350Z, so i think they just want to make money. Therefore, the Alhambra Mazda is not the dealer we are looking for. If i want my GT pkg for 8 at lease i have to pay 35,000. i am going to wait for while until i see my 8 beause i want my 8 for X-plan.

I went to Heritage Mazda in Huntington Beach tonight. I really wanted to see paint samples, but I would have gone ahead and ordered if they made it easy. They didn't have paint samples, but I didn't see them for other Mazda cars, either, so I suspect that Mazda just doesn't make brochures like that.

They said they would do MSRP with a refundable deposit, which is good, but it didn't go much beyond that. I said that I pretty much knew what I wanted and was ready to pre-order. "That car isn't available yet", "we don't know the price yet", "we'll order them, maybe put some custom wheels or other options on, and the first person who comes in with money will get it", "the computer will reject any orders we enter", etc. was all I could get. I mentioned that I knew about the Mazda pre-order program and explained about how you can go to the web site to configure car and that you'll be referred to a dealer. I don't know if they were unaware or simply did not want to cooperate with the pre-order program, but I wasn't getting anywhere so I left rather discouraged. Perhaps they had already sold their allocation (but I don't think so) or the computer wasn't accepting their pre-orders or something. Whatever the case, they could have handled that a whole lot better.

To be fair, I did go in there at 8:30PM on Friday evening, when they close at 9. And the guy that made first contact was trying to be helpful and took down my info so he could call later. But I ended up talking with about four employees all together in the showroom and they were either uninformed or simply uncooperative. I might try again since they are right around the corner from me, but if I didn't live so close I would not go back there.

placed order w/West Covina Mazda

I placed my order w/West Covina Mazda yesterday, 1/19, droped off a refundable deposit check for $500 this morning. I met with a salesman yesterday (Ali Chehabi) and ended up with Ralph Kile the Sales Manager taking my paperwork (!!) - which was a printout of what I wanted from the Mazda order site (which would NEVER let me complete the order over the web!!). They both seemed descent enough.
As far as what I will have to pay - well, Ralph assured me it would be for what was on the printout. Hopefully I can trust the guy... if not, then I guess a warning post will foloow.
The best paret of the deal was being told my RX8 would arrive in March!
Stay tuned...

Delivery Dates

I hear June at Starz Mazda in Glendale, March from West Covina Mazda - but neither sales person seemd to know much about the 8!

Perhaps it is time for a Best Dealer/Worst Dealer list/thread.

maxcooper,
copy your post to an email and send it to the customer service people at MNAO. call first and ask for charlie. get his email and send him your post. he will be glad to talk to someone there as he did for me with my dealer. if he can't get them to cooperate i'm sure he can hook you up with another dealer who would be glad to take your business.

Thanks zoom44. I am still on the fence about whether I should get one or not. If I decide to go for it, I'll try another dealer or contact MNAO like you suggested.

Thanks,
-Max

Or maybe you just talked to the wrong people. Jake is the one who helped me in HB Mazda, and I already have my order in. He seemed to know that the 15th was the cutoff date for first batch preorders. He said that my car was one of the three that are initially coming in. He also seemed to know the differences in the packaged options. Like when I said, "silver, touring package", he said "okay, no leather then..."

BTW, $200 deposit (back in September), guaranteed MSRP, and refundable.....

Heritage Mazda

Per this topic's info, I ordered my new RX-8 from Heritage. I spoke with Jake, and he was semi-knowledgeable and very helpful, and I was able to place my order over the phone with a CC#. I ordered a Silver GT Red/Black leather no NAV.
$200 deposit (refundable)

I believe I was the last one to place my order for the July-September allottment for their dealership. According to what he told me, there are 3 September-November shipment cars available for pre-order at Heritage.

I double-checked my order to be sure, and he told me that there were no issues with the ordering, and that when production on my vehile begins he will send me some mail.

Cylo, or anybody in the OC area just wanted to see if the dealers are just holding the checks or cashing them... a lot of my money is tied up in getting a house right now, so wanted to see what the process was, especially at Heritage... and i am looking for the 3rd installment... thanks.
