Over heating issues, need feedback PHX

Well about a month ago down in Tucson my car over heated and just yesterday it did it again on the I-10. The first time I took it to Mazda and they had it for 3 days and found nothing. Today I sent it back to Mazda and see if they can find anything. If anyone else is goin through the same problems I would appreciate and info back.

Thanks Ryan

Well Mazda called and it seems that one of the fan settings wasnt right and the fan wouldnt turn on when the car was hot.

I just got brack from Mazda and talked to Jason and he said that the fans have three settings and the third is for when the motor starts to get really hot. Well oddly enough that mode wasnt engaging. I dont know why but they said it wasnt so thats what was causin it to over heat. The car will be finished tomorrow, see if it keeps it cool if not i guess a aftermarket radiator would help about 20 degrees (give or take).

And Abb he said the warranty company did make a statement about "he has a K&N" but Jason handled it and they allowed the work.

i was traveling back from san diego on friday, when i got to yuma, az the temp was 109 degrees and i notoced my car really really lagged, i mean absiolutley no acceleration at all. so yesterday after i let the car cool all night, i checked my coolant and oil levels, all good, no warning signs or buzzers going off in the car either so i went for a drive. from the get go, no acceleration at all and it hesitates bad at higher rpms. its going in the shop as soon as i can get an appointment. there is definitly somthing not right and today i went around the block here in phx and i noticed a mettalic rattling sound coming from the engine bay, kind of like what pinging sounds like in a piston engine. hmmmmm

Hey guys. Im going to have to agree about Biddulph mazda. They voided my whole transmission warranty because of an issue they couldnt fix. Now i have a defective transmission despite numerous repair attemps, and biddulph and MNAO are denying my warranty. This is a result of poor service. Steer clear.

another8owner- I encourage you to take it to showcase if only because they tell me that I am the only one in AZ with this problem. I'd like them to see another one.

Both cooling fans run together. The are controlled by three relays which receive a signal from the PCM. Relay one controls low speed fan operation. If all three relays are engaged, the fans run at high speed.

The fans run at high speed if the coolant temp is 213deg or more, or if the coolant temp is less than 213deg and the A/C is switched on. They'll also run at high speed after the ignition is switched off if the coolant is at high temp or the underhood temp is high.

Sounds likely that you had a relay problem, Mny Rex....

Gomez.

[QUOTE=abbid]dont go to biddulph, they suck.[/QUOTE

i second the notion.

oh yeah, today, 110 degrees.... no A/C on from s. broadway to pinnacle peak rd. oil temp stayed at about 90 degrees cel. water temp about 100 degrees cel.

tommorow i will do the same run w/ A/C on. just to see if it is a fan/ relay issue or overheating issue.

then i will take it in.

It cooled down when i got out of the traffic jam. Needless to say it happened only once again that day and it hasnt re-occured.
I wouldn't be too worried about that.

Hey Gomez, yeah the third relay wasnt working. They replaced it and somethin else, im just glad she is back to runin. Secondly Abb ive been havin those AC problems too. They tell me that that is just normal. But in my last car (Toyota) I never had the AC flux ever. But I guess its just the price ya pay for the rotary motor.
