Pain in the *** recall

Anyone else having troubles getting their recall parts, or is Diablo Mazda jerking my *** around? 10 weeks ago, I brought my 8 in to have the recall work done with the assurance that the parts would be in for my appointment. Next thing I know, I've just wasted an entire morning because the parts "weren't in". (even tho' they said one part was in and the other would be on it's way. 10 weeks later, they're now saying that the parts are trickling in slowly and that there's a backup on parts. Anyone else having the same problem in the other dealerships? I gotta know so I can lodge a complaint somewhere.

I have the same problem Pixartist, I have been waiting for the A/C amplifier for 2 weeks, and before that I had to schedule and appointment which they only had an oppening for a month in advance. So I was thinking they will be done that day of the appointment, instead the idiots ordered the part the day I brought the car in, when they could of done it when I told them there was something wrong. I am also waiting for other numerous things that are wrong with the car when it was delivered and I am getting really pissed off. Once you buy the car they don't give a flying monkey's *** about you.

Kraze,
Depends on when ya got your 8. Theres a recall for the passenger side airbag that needs replacing. If you have an MT, there's a damper that "may" come off and hit a car behind you when it starts to crack.

If your AC blow mderate cold air on the highest setting then your AC may be affected. I think it's in the forums search for TCB?? or something like that.

do a search for finishlineperformance (that's where the tsbs are for all recalls), there was a backlog when the a/c amplifier tsb came out. mine missed the vin range, i purchased in Oct 2003, build date sept 2003; abdid, yours is newer, what is your build date? i'm thinking yours should have already had the amplifier or at least not in the vin range.....

Lies !!! 1 . Mazda clearly says in the ac and Oil pan tsb that the parts for the fixes including the Air bag fix.. ! witch they cannot let you drive the car with the bad Air bag.. Fedral Law. Anyway, Mazda says they send out the parts to the dealers with the tsbs. So they should have the AC part witch also fits the mx3 ,! and they should have the Oil pan, and the Air bag and dampner parts as soon as Mazda makes the TSB known. My dealer made me wait one week to order the AC amp , and I ragged on him for not having it in stock .. He told me they actully had one in stock but they had to keep it on the shelf incase a non Warrenty AC amp repair came it!! They make more money on the non Warrenty jobs !!!

So ,, Lies I say.. dont be nice about any recall or TSB part having to be orderd .. The Dealerships area supposed to have those parts instock..

And as for your Air bag recall.. !! call that dealer and tell him you expect the airbag to be fixed with in 48 hours or you will turn them over to the Feds. It is very clear that a dealer cannot knowningly sell a car with a serious defect like any safety system recall.

My 8 had the airbag recall done in Longbeach harbor before it cleard customs. Mazda cant bring them in to the U.S. once they know theres a recall. So they had to fix the airbag recall before they could even give it to a dealer to be sold.

Good luck. your dealer seams to be jerking you off.

Thx Thew (almost sounds like a tohgue twister)

No wonder my recall parts all of a sudden turned up when I threatened to complain to MazdaUSA about the delays. Now I'm wondering if they are short changing me on the free warranty maintenence. I'd be interesting to see what they do differently between the "paying version" and the "non-paying version".

I'm been waiting for 2+ weeks for my A/C Amplifier from Magnussuen Mazda in Fremont. Oh, and my call to their srv dept that I placed over a week ago has not been returned. Thanks for the reminder, I'll call them--again--tomorrow. Grrrr......

Lightbulb Getting Better Service

When I took my 8 in for warranty work there was another man (boy?) there for warranty work on his 3. He had a new car and just a few problems but he was getting 'dissed. Big time. I had a few problems and I was in a hurry and must admit I was probably annoying, rude and pushy. (I wasn't having a good day.) But I got better service. Why? I was in between clients and I was in a business attire - slacks, dress shirt and tie. This other guy had his hat in "I'm stupid" position, baggy pants, had the "Yo dog" gestures and talked like he was auditioning for a part in an Ice-T bag video.
Results? I got fast service and a new clean loaner car. He was still at the service counter when I left, even though he was there before I was.
Reason? Preception is reality. I was precived as a professional, he was prcieved as a doofis. This is human nature.
If your getting bad service try kicking it up a notch. You don't have to wear business attire, but professional casual would help.
Talk to the service manager like someone who has more than an 8th grade education, not like you talk to your friends about the latest snoop doggy-poop video.
You would be amazed at the service you will get.
Yes, it may not be fair and everyone should be treated the same; but that is the way life goes.

Angry Consider yourself lucky

I first voiced my concern about the underwhelming AC performance in February. The dealer claimed they had never heard anyone complaining and tried to teach me how to use car air conditioning. That was pretty insulting. In March I brought the RX-8 in for something else and had them really dig through it. Couple of days later I was told I needed a new AC Amp but that they would only get the Amp in April. In April I was told that they "forgot" to order mine. Today is August 7th and I am still waiting despite calls to Mazda USA for assistance. The ETA has now slipped into September - just in time for Winter!

The really infuriating part is the perky recording the dealer has about their Project 100 - 100% satisfaction to 100% of customers 100% of the time - guaranteed. Yeah, right.

Love the RX-8, disgusted with the dealer, really disgusted with Mazda. Two of my buddies decided against RX-8 so far and both went after the Z350. Didn't want the hassle I am having.

Any advice how to get some response from Mazda? Maybe I should just park it at the dealers repair shop with a work order on the windscreen and wait for the timer to pop past the Lemon limit. As it is, I end up driving my wife's Honda on nice days.

Hey Matti,

I tried to find the online article from automobile with no luck. I believe someone had published a copy in another thread. I'll let you know as soon as I can retrace my steps in this forum.

I got th a/c controller after waiting a month, but the change was barely perceptible. If the ambient is anywhere above 85 degrees, forget about carrying any passengers.

Also, had the left visor break & got that replaced. Now the right visor's broken. Also, have the nav history only display repeated last two points, but the dealer isn't coming forth with any solutions. Not bad for a $2000 piece!!!

Love this car, otherwise. Also, will be at 7 Stock tomorrow!
