Phoenix AZ RX8's - Sat. 5/29 Informal Lunch meet
Hey all you Phoenix (and anyone else) RX-8 owners. We're having an informal lunch get together on Saturday, May 29th (this coming saturday). Just a chance to get together and hang out for an hour or two, meet some new owners and the like.
The meeting place will be at the scottsdale pavillions on indian bend rd. and the 101 east. Meet in the parking lot just east of the denny's on the north side of the road. I will arrive around 11:00 and then we can hang out and shoot the breeze and if anyone cares to drive somewhere then that's certainly an option. If anyone has questions or needs directions, shoot me a PM.

Sounds awesome Sanguine! 09Factor I look forward to seeing you again *and* meeting your better half :D I won't have the exhaust on this time around; did you get that sound system going? Matt - that means Norma will bring the green machine and join us while you're home shoveling that dirty stuff right? Besides - we need a green with chrome wheels! Can't ya just break for lunch?

Honestly, here's why I can't make it.... 14 tons rock and my Pathfinder have the RX8 trapped in the garage...
If you all don't mind Norma could always bring the MR2
I really want to meet up again but June will be the first time I can get away...
BTW - Thinking about a 4th of July of party at my house... We'll see...

The local police have started to patroll Yarnell more often. One of the Scooby owners from Prescot in know, drives Yarnell every fricking day.
And when he does get stopped, it's in his ambulance. Go figure.
I not bashing the police, But come on. An ambulance?
37 yrs+ 1 ticket = you the man .

Sorry I missed the lunch because of the safety class. Did learn one thing in class I want to pass on. Apparently the new rubberized asphalt (the new quiet stuff) is very slippery when wet. Anyone have experience with that?
Also, what radar detector would any of you recommend?

Hi Frank! Bummer about the class darn it Glad it's over tho. As far as detectors tho... I was considering the Escort Solo S2 as a wireless option.
But I've read oodles of posts about them here. The most popular seem to be Valentine 1, Escort 8500 and also a BEL something or other. And plenty of posts scattered through out saying they may not really help us out at all. Ughhh!
Edit: Danged typos :D And I'm even wearing my contacts.

Thanks Poolside,
Great pics and nice meeting all of the new people. Can't wait to do it again. As far as radar detectors go Frank, if you can swing it I'd get the Valentine 1. Nothing but praise from people who've purchased, and top-notch customer service from the people who own the company. I work with several engineers at Honeywell who rave about their V1s and wouldn't trade them for the world.

Radar Detectors
I've had a V-1 (Valentine One) for so long I had it updated to the latest for their standing $75.00 charge. I also bought a second one for wifey.
I am also a longtime motorcyclist, and Motorcycle Consumer News, a no-ad, no BS magazine, I've rec'd for years, rated it the best after Car and Driver's 97 to 76 points for V-1 to Escort, in a complete shoot-out by more-specific ratings, with the V-1 way ahad of the pack.
After using it in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Glendale, amd other AZ locales, like Yarnell, Prescott, Payson, Winslow, etc., I can say it has saved me more times than I can count now.
Check out this scenario: There's a photocop on Shea Blvd, south side of road at 70th to 71st Street. I am coming south on 64th Street to turn east. As I stop for the red light at Shea, it starts bleeping and the arrow points to side. As I round the corner after the light changes, the arrow points ahead, and the bleeping is louder and more frequent. That's photocop KA band, the most limited radar. On K-band, its a half mile to a mile on the highway, and on a straightaway, it could be three miles.
Oh yeah, great pics. and Wonderful to meet all there! Thanks all.

poolsidenaz - lol at the pic of me. Think I was scatching at my sunburn from the weekend before. My girlfriend will get a kick out of that when I show her.
It was good meeting all of you. I have a day off on June 12th if any one is up for a drive, food, or both. Unless my schedule changes I won't be off on a weekend again till july I love this job just kinda sucks working long hours on the weekends.
Vivid - You got me hooked on your exhaust. It sounded sweet man. I can't wait to get the money together.
