Phoenix member new to the site w/ a new RX8
Greetings, all!
I recently (Feb 9th) purchased my RX8 and wanted to try to find a local club/community of RX8 owners. It looks like I found the right place, as I saw a thread burried in the boards here about a Phoenix group. I would like to be added to this group, if at all possible, assuming it is still active.
As far as the car goes, I picked up a black 2004 (more money off on the 04 than 05 =\ oh well) with the grand touring package & spoiler from Earnhardt Ford Mazda just off of Ray and I-10. It was a great purchasing experience and I would highly recommend buying from them if any of you are looking to buy.
So what is the AZ RX8 community like? I visited azrx8.com but it appears that site does not see frequent updates. Is there another online community somewhere that I should investigate, or does most of our communication reside here?
Well, I'm going to spend a chunk of the day browsing the forums here to soak up information. I'm new to many aspects of this. I'm not very mechanically knowledgeable, although I learn quickly.. This is the first manual transmission car I've owned, as well as the first mazda/rotary. Needless to say, I have a lot of learning to do. I was hoping to soup up my car a bit too, so we'll see how that goes.
Anyway, I hope to be a valuable member of the community. Please let me know where I should look for AZ RX8 community events and such. Thanks!

Welcome Sememmon :D This is where the majority of AZ 8 Owners communicate. If you'd like to be added on a dist list of active AZ 8 owners please PM or email me with your interest, screen name, real name and even a tele # if you like. Don't give me anything you wouldn't want shared with our AZ 8 group. There's a thread about that here too that you can check out.
The owner of AZRX8.com is a fallen member I am afraid I understand a couple folks are possibly looking at buying or assuming over that site sometime in the future.
Congrats on your new obsession and welcome to the best RX8 site anywhere

Well poolsidenaz is the only decent one in az. All the rest of us are somewhat maladjusted! Welcome aboard ! The AzRx8 page will someday be taken over. There is a TON of information here about what to do, what not to do.
Two rules thought:
check your oil and never shut the car off "cold" or be vistied by the "Flooding deamon".
Maybe we can put together another meet the 1st weekend in march. just keep up on the RCCAZ Scedualed events thread. all of the meet ideas are posted. Oh and don't be afraid to periodically check the redline buzzer. Just to make sure it works.:D

Haha..
Thanks for the warm welcome and the info. I'll definitely do my best to hook up with you all sometime in the future.
Any of you out there in the Ahwatukee/Chandler area that I could chat with sometime?

welcome! mostly the rx-8 owners here meet up in phoneix with the rotary car club of az (rccaz). azrx8.com was originally designed to emulate azrx7.com by a member who has since sold his beloved 8 and some (09factor or boxcar) are trying to get the domain info from the original owner. so yes, no updates. the rest of the rccaz crew hangs out at azrx7.com, rx-8's welcome!
the 04 will be fine as there are not any improvements in the 05 line .

Welcome Sememmon!
Hey, I live in Ahwatukee!! Actually, several of us in the Ahwatukee area get together periodically at Einsteins Bagels on the corner of 48th and Ray for some Saturday morning Jo and Jawing. Hopefully you could join us in the near future.
Rotary Car Club of Arizona (RCCAZ) was formed back in 2000 to bring together all fans for rotary power in Arizona. We'd love to have you as a member. Feel free to attend an event or two and check things out. PM me with your contact info and offline email address and I'll contact you with additional club details and information.
Congratulations, and welcome to the world of rotary ownership!

I will get some pics soon .. hafta clean it up a bit after all the rain we've had lately. I'll hafta head over and meet you guys someday too. It'll take quite a bit of effort to meet on a Saturday morning for me though .. I have a tendency to use that day as a sleep-in-ALOT day. =P

Wooo...
I fell off the planet for two years there, but I'm back and still have my RX8. After all that talk about meeting up with you guys and being an active member, I feel kinda bad that I vanished. Damn you, life. Why do you have to be so complicated..
Well anyway. Hope to get a chance to meet some of you guys soon, now that I finally have the time. Do any of you guys still meet at 48th/Ray on the weekends?

I usually leave Pecos for late at night. Even with only a few cars here and there at this end, I still catch them with a bit too much closing speed at redline in 4th.
I've taken to using the interface with 202 on the east side of the 10 at the end of Pecos for the really high-speed stuff.
That is where I lost my power steering the other night.

Hmm.. have you ever had any problems with police on Pecos? It used to be great until they connected it to the freeway. =\
A friend of mine mentioned a bunch of hairpins way up at the end of cave creek road that is apparently a lot of fun to drive.. might go check it out sometime.

Pecos is completely abandoned. Hooking it up to the freeway just means I have a really high-speed section at one end!
There are only two cops assigned to this entire end of Ahwatukee. They make a round of the end of Pecos and Chandler one a night. Sometimes, a motorcycle cop from Chandler sets up on Chandler Blvd and 15th Ave, but only on Friday and Saturday when we have a problem with the local kids street racing. Why they don't do it on Pecos is beyond me.
Basically, it is a completely uninterrupted run from 27th Ave to Desert Foothills Parkway for 2 miles. Flat, 4-lanes, rough desert on both sides. Almost perfect, except the mild altitude changes.
