And FYI... the STi, Evo, E36 M3 and C4 vette are also in BSP so it's not like the competition is any easier than in STU. There just happens to be a bunch more people running STU locally. Personally, I think the 8 will probably be more competitive in STU given that you are allowed wider tires than the AWD guys in that class.

^^ so that if you hit a cone, it won't leave any scuff marks on your car.

i c. but, hmm.... why don't they mark the course w/ wide bright-colored tape then? same result (ie u can see the course) and no scuff marks.

also. wouldn't u have to put a LOT of tape to prevent the marks? a cone is what, at least a foot high. the small amount of tape that i see everyone putting from the photos doesn't look like it would be enough. is it?

Thats them, just different size I use 18X8. With the 8.5 wide wheel I would go for a 265 in STU trim.

Only newbies and people that hit lots of stuff fugly cars up like that. The rest of us wax off the cone marks.

All that tape on your car is a good way to make sure it will never be in a mag.

245/35/19 front, 275/30/19 rear, and lowering springs. nothing else. i'm highly interested in participating to one of these events now that i've had my first taste of it this saturday that just passed .

STU

If you are going to run that big nasty stager in you tires size I would suggest a bigger rear swaybar, that will help your car turn.

Sure, but as long as he is on street tires he should run STU.

Real racers don't bother to remove the cone marks.

Either way he is going to have his *** handed to him...just figured a class where it is still POSSIBLE to run race tires would be better? (not that he is bad - the STU class is just rediculously off balance for the 8 - race tires in BSP help ALOT as Casey the man has shown us)

They really are not off balance, just a matter of no one has fully set up an RX8 for those classes. I think the RX8 could be the car to have for STU.

the best reason i can tell, is that when a car goes out bound so to speak. he hits a cone and seconds or added to his run. where as if there was tape on the ground it would be almost impossible to tell. unless they had sensors in the tape on the ground.. so a cone flying away lets you know that you went too wide or cut too sharp..

I do it strickly for the looks....if you notice, I even put a small stripe of blue tape on my rear bumper....I doubt I'm gonna back up into any cones. Its all just for fun for me.

The springs take you out of B'stock. You can only change the struts out...not springs. Tires have to be stock size...not stock rims, just stock sizing.

You could race with me in STU and run on the tires you have, or race in BSP with Casey on the tires you have, or with race tires.

If you keep Erica's rims, and want to exchange your springs for my stock springs (which are in the garage), you could race B-stock. Oh, so many options grasshopper.

True, true, true.

As for me racing in BSP....I checked my side skirts and all the fasteners on the bottom are still in tact. I definately do not want to remove them and loosen these fasteners. I guess I will have to go the "plead my case to those in BSP" route....or just continue in STU and get practice in.

what is Team RX8 doing that is beyond what I have so far.

I just installed the MS springs/struts/sways.

I know I still need good rims and tires..but what else would be recommendations. I don't think I can get lightened flywheel, but pulleys are legal.

Looks like he's going all out. Custom Koni coilovers, removed the AC, custom intake, new pullies, lightweight battery, fat 9.5 inch wheels with Yokohamas, custom exhaust, etc. Plus he is starting with a base model which is a bit lighter than our GTs.

Like I mentioned before, I think the 8 is more competitive in STU than BSP at least at a national level... but unfortunately you have a lot of good experienced drivers in the local STU class. If you look at Sunday's results, the 2nd place driver in BSP would have placed way down in 7th in STU, yet BSP is supposed to be the faster class. You just have some tough competition, doesn't mean the car can't compete in the class. You're still a noob with a relatively stock car and crappy tires... give it time.

You planning on taking off your whole body kit? It is not just your sides that take you out of BSP. If you want to run race tires with your kit it is Street Mod for you.

What he said, that car will be sick when it is done. I would guess he has spent over $10k on mods for STU. The shocks alone are $4800.00. Even with the carzy money he has spent on an STU setup a BSP or SM setup would be more.
If you want to take your car to the next level for STU you need to step up to some serious wheels and tires. It is a joke to run the OE tires on the RX8 in ANY class much less STU. Also a race alignment would not hurt.

p.s. I would love to drive you car with the MS bits and a serious STU wheel/tire setup.
