i have an uncle that had sprint for years,
he just switched to at&t cause he could
not get a line up near the bay.
but his friend could and he had verizon.
the # i have now originally came from
verizon, so it's just a matter of giving it
back to them.

Beagles cell phone delimna
So my plan has expired, I am now month to month.

I need a plan with more minutes than there are in a month. I am on my phone Monday thru Friday for almost the whole day. So a bunch of minutes are important.
I also want to get a phone that can jump on the internet from time to time. It does not need to sync with outlook, although that would be a plus. But being able to check a few sites from the phone would be kinda cool.

I am just stuck on Sprints everything plan for $99/month. I havent found anything that looks any better. SO if anyone has any suggestions . . . .. . . I would love to hear them

Regarding dropped calls, there are several issues.
First, I came from Verizon. I've always said Verizon had the best coverage.
If you have a Sprint phone, it runs on the same technology as Verizon.
If you're in an area that doesn't have good Sprint coverage, you're phone will roam on Verizon's network and vice-versa.
Most plans now a days include roaming, so it's not a major deal anymore.

Dropped calls have to do w/ the phone you're using.
As technology improves, the ability to stay locked to a tower, and bounce to another tower improves.
Also, most people don't regularly update their roaming capabilities on their phone.
I don't know how to do it w/ regular Sprint phones, cause I have a Pocket PC phone, but
on Verizon you just dial *22899. Most people don't even know that exist.
If you go to the store for "dropped-calls", that's the first thing they're likely to do.
Each company has a way to update their roaming so you get better coverage.

Sprint has a bad rap because they use to have the worst customer service, and terrible coverage.
Their coverage has improved 100%. You can ask Keith/Erica. They switched because they
had zero coverage at home. My Sprint phone gets full bars and faster internet then the
DSL at their house now.
I have not had any issues w/ customer service, and I have called a ton of times for different questions.
The company almost went completely under because of how bad everything was.
They learned a hard lesson and to try an catch up w/ the competition, they're offer crazy deals.
Just their unlimited everything plan is proof of that. No one else comes close to that offer.

Like I said, I think it might just be your phone.
If you try SERO, you have absolutely nothing to lose. If it doesn't work out for you, just cancel within 30 days, and you're done.
If it works, you'll have an amazing phone, and only $30 a month.

You can't say Sprint sucks, and then in the same thread suggest an iPhone.
That's like saying, I hate water, anyone want to go swimming?

hmm...
That's the power of fruit controlling you.
You're going to be laid off, and you're planning on spending way too much for a locked down phone that looks good.
I've said once and I'll say it again. Apple Marketing people are absolute geniuses.
I swear if Apple made clothes it would be "The Emperor's New Clothes" all over again.

I talk to my wife while she's at the poker table in Pechanga all the time, no problems.
Again, I really think it's the phone, and the older technology.
You may also want to look into updating your roaming capabilities.

You should check how many minutes you actually use before 6pm Mon-Fri.
On Sprint you can get 1300mins, and unlimited after 6pm for $65/month.
Of course every other feature is unlimited too, but you only have 1300mins. If you go over, it's $5 for every 30mins.
So if you use 1500mins before 6pm weekdays, you're better off w/ the $99 everything plan.

(I should work for Sprint ) Of course, suggesting their cheapest plans isn't going to make me any money.

well, when i was a sprint customer, both their service + coverage utterly, completely sucked beyond anything i could ever have imagined. now, if that's changed, then that would be news to me. however, given the bs nightmare i went thru with them the last time, i'm not willing to take that chance ever again. that's just me.

re iphone- i was merely saying the new model is coming out, and i've been wanting to get one. i have many, many friends who own iphones and absolutely love it. so, based on their collective feedback, i don't see why it would be a bad choice. i've been a .Mac customer for many years, so MobileMe sounds like something i would get automatically. an added plus. and, i'm a mac person, so it suits my mac-centric computing lifestyle. don't see anything wrong with that.

so, i'm not really following the water & swimming analogy...

Like I said, they were the worst at everything before, but that's totally changed. Unfortunately for them, many people still have bad memories of the old Sprint.

The swimming analogy was stupid. I was merely saying you can't say Sprint sucks, but suggest an iPhone, which, in my opinion sucks.

As some might be aware, I'm not a big fan of the iPhone. It's got the fastest processor, and is easily the most powerful device around, but it's been locked and restricted beyond reason.

For those of you who are lost, here's a typical conversation w/ someone about the iPhone.
*************

Great man you got the New 3G iPhone. That thing looks incredible.

BTW - How's the video on the "new" 3G iPhone?
Oh what's that? It doesn't record video?!? But video recording on phones has been around
for years. Hmm..

Well at least you have spoken turn-by-turn directions on the "new" GPS version.
Oh what's that? It doesn't actually give you spoken directions? hmm...
So you have to watch a little dot move along the map while you're driving?
And, the map is always oriented so that North is up, so if you're traveling
South and are going to make a left turn, you need to hold the phone upside-down so it looks accurate?
But, if you're traveling East or West, you can't turn the phone because it has
that "awesome" feature that rotates the screen automatically so the phone never
actually acts or responds like any other GPS technology that has been around for a least 15+ years. that's odd..

Well, a least you can just install some other software for mapping since there are
tons of companies that make them for phones and they include voice directions.
Oh what's that? You can't install software that the great Steve Jobs hasn't personally approved and deemed OK.
And, there is no other mapping software available for your phone? hmm...

Well, at least you can download mp3's and listen to them on your phone.
Oh wait, just like the iPod, it has to be converted to their format first through a computer? Well at least you can just jump on the iTunes Store and
buy it directly. Oh, but you can't connect to iTunes through the 3G connection, you actually have to be on a WiFi network?
So what's the 3G for?

Oh I know, at least you can take advantage of that 3G connection speed to tether to you laptop when you're traveling.
Wait, what's that? iPhone doesn't let you tether? But the cheap flip phone I had 5 years ago had tethering. hmmm..

Well, at least you can look a pictures. Cause I know how much people love to walk around an stare at pictures on phone all day. That's a really nice feature.
Oh, and you can make calls.
And, how much are you paying for this?

well, we can happily agree to disagree.

as i've said before, apple's restrictions are for a reason. they need for their hardware & software to be easy to use for everyone ranging from grandma to motion picture & production editing people. and, the only way to make that happen is to keep things simple and not give too many choices.

yes- the major con is that u won't be able to do everything every way or be compatible with everything. but, the pro is that u can pick one easy way to do everything and it will always work, every time. and, at the end of the day, it's what you accomplish with your gadgets that make them beneficial, not the # of diff file formats u can get the same file in.

Just jumping on quickly to say I saw the RX Z88M on Tuedsay. I was wondering why the guys were staring so much at my car (thought something might be wrong with it) then I noticed them walking to a blk 8....thought ok, they are new 8 owners.....then I saw the plate and couldn't help but wave. Nice looking car

so casey & keith didn't keep their vanity plates? i would've- just for the sentimental value of it.

i think that the yaris is sub-compact (smaller) size and cobalt is compact size. one's japanese and one's american.

Both the Yaris and Cobalt are great cars.
The cobalt will be a little bigger, and a little faster.

But the yaris looks like a mini avalon
Toyota designers have no imagination

At least the Yaris doesn't look like a Mazda 5. I think those are the ugliest out of the Mazda 5, Yaris, Fit, and Versa.
