Sorry 2 hear about ur install issues Jorge. Those rotors look really nice. Hope u get the sliders working...
Keith, we had a 40th anniversary auto at the 626 meet last night, and it looked fantastic. It's basically an r3 with 08 styling. Dustin said he got it for $31k from Galpin. U shouldn't rule it out. The seats on that thing r pure sweetness.

Honestly, its sad when i know more about a dealership's inventory than a salesperson that works at that dealership... ******* romero mazda...
I went there 2 weeks ago, test drove a manual (tan in color) rx8. i call them yesterday, talk to troy (a ******* dipshit that wants to waste my time) and i ask him if they have an 2009 auto rx8s in stock, he says yes. I tell him "Troy, i know there is a tan one there, i want to test drive an auto 2009 rx8" he says Yeah, come down, i got a couple here...
I go to the dealership, all thats sitting there is the tan manual 09 rx8 that i test drove a few weeks ago, and an 08 40th anniversary 08.
******* dealership.
i'm glad im not purchasing from them.

well, my car is done (sort of) Damn slider bolt is FUBAR so I'm going to have to order some tomorrow and drive my Explorer till I get those in.
Caliper paint on that rotor is BEYOND FUBAR; it's scary what brake fluid does to paint....

ok, since we are talking about rotors i need to ask a dumb question. are cross-drilled rotors mainly for looks, or do they significantly enhance performance? i read in car & driver when they were testing the corvette that the rotors kept popping at the desert facility. but, they didn't say if it was due to the hot weather or if cross-drilled rotors are just more prone to cracking...
they sure look nice though.

The idea of cross drilled rotors was to allow heat to escape thus improving braking by no reducing the temperature.
Some drilled rotors end up cracking under extreme driving (track, auto cross, etc) but it's tough to single out whether the drilling caused it or if they are just cheap rotors. (You'd be surprised the JUNK that is out there) PLUS, some people drill their stock rotors to give it that look and that is a BAD idea...

ouch, that sucks Jesse. I'll have to remember to take a peak at them next time I'm out there.
Caliper painting is SUPER easy. Just set aside 2 hours and you'll have plenty of time to touch up the calipers.
Is it a touch up or are you painting for the first time?
Either way, do yourself a huge favor and THROW AWAY that pice of crap for a paint brush that comes with the kits. Go to home depot and get a decent brush. You'll thank me afterwards.
Brakes felt pretty good when I was bedding them in, we'll how they feel once I warm them up a bit.
MIllenia S is a GREAT car! looking for a daily driver or RX-8 replacement?

keep an eye on your temps, check the oil level, and we'll figure something out this weekend.
Might be time for a compression test though...

paint brush is better then the spray paint. It's a higher quality paint, no chances of over spray and you don't have to mask everything off.
do you just have a few chips? If so, I'd just paint over it. 1 or 2 good coats should do the trick

swing by an autoparts store; Kragen, Autozone, Pepboys, etc and head for the paint section. They should have Duplicolor caliper paint, it comes in a kit. There's a can of paint, a paint brush (CRAP!), and a big can of Brake cleaner.
Spray the entire caliper area down with the brake cleaner, it's AWESOME at getting rid of the dust. Use a toothbrush with it to get it really clean.
Then take your home depot brush and go to town.
That can has TONS of paint, you could easily paint two full sets of calipers with what they give you. Make sure to read the instructions on the paint with regards to drying time

My cd player is skipping like crazy even if the cd that I put in has nothing wrong with it. It is getting worse as the weeks go on. Is there a cause for this?

car CD laser lenses typically wear out after about 5 years of normal usage. the oem manufacturers (Bose, Pioneer, Alpine etc.) intentionally make them this way so that they can make money selling the replacement CD laser lense parts.
typically, the replacement/ service process is done through the car dealers, who hire car audio CD repair shops to do the actual work. this is because neither car dealers nor aftermarket car audio shops know how to actually replace the serviceable parts inside the oem car CD players.
what BMW does is, you bring your car in, give them a couple hundred bucks, and after an hour, you're on the road w/ tunes again. u think u have a new unit- cuz that's what they charge u for. but, in actuality they didn't really give u a new unit. what they actually did is have the repair shop tech yank out your broken unit and put in another "used" CD player that was already repaired by the repair shop. then ur broken one goes back to the repair shop inventory to have its CD lense replaced and will go to the next customer.
they do it this way, because no one actually takes out their head unit or their CD changer and writes down the serial numbers to check. and, how are u going to prove that the unit they gave u is used? the reality is, all ppl care about is that their CD player is working again...
some car CD repair shops do take walk-ins though, and they charge less than the dealers. the one i go to is:

hope this helps...

as for the CD player issue, that sounds silly!? mine have never skipped (aftermarket and stock) nor does my moms or my wifes and they are much older.
