u should look for an IT internship through monster.com, dice.com, and linkedin.com while u r still in school. cuz, once u graduate, ur just another "job seeker." but, while u r in school, u have many options... just my 0.02...
but do internships pay? i can't go on w/o any pay. i still have bills of my own.

depends on the company and the industry... in the entertainment industry (music, film, tv), they generally don't pay anything for interns. other industries do though (pharmaceuticals, law, etc.)

it's up to you to ask and find out depending on the industry you're interested in. dice.com, monster.com, and linkedin.com are good resources.

Gerry,

Since we both got our cars around the same time, I thought I'd share this picture I took on Friday night.

i'm at work. loathing it. putting up with it because it's the only job i have and i need some form of income. even if i'm coming out essentially paying for going to work.

you guys know that my hours have been cut and all. and just before my hours were cut, i had paid off all my credit cards and small loans i had. i was very happy and proud of myself for having done so. then, my hours get cut. and over the last couple of months i've been using my credit card for gas and small miscelaneous purchases (usually food when i'm out doing errands). so yea. i'm paying to go to work.

lol, i'm complaining too much. i'll stop before you guys start hating me, :p

gerry: you should look into getting a good car cover for it while it's in the garage.
Most people think I'm crazy but if I know I'm not driving the 8 for a week or two, I'll wash it and throw the cover on it because the last thing I want is to go out to the garage wanting to drive it and see it covered in a huge layer of dust.

yah... i actually have a useable car cover- except i thought i'd be driving the 8 more last week and got lazy and left it uncovered. who knew just opening & closing the garage door during the week kicked up enough dust to make it dirty.

the 626 meet guys had a good laugh last week, cuz they were like- holy ****, gerry's car actually gets dirty sometimes after all...

Hey Cesar, did Verizon stop by yoru door this past week anytime? They came to our door but I thought they were advertising so I didn't answer. Anyway the notice they left said that FIOS TV is now available in our area (I guess they finally worked something out with Rancho). Curently we have Direct TV, who do you have, will you be making the switch, do you know what the benfits are?

(anyone else can chime in too)

Happy Tuesday Taco Day!?

i currently have Verizon FIOS with the 3 deal package (internetz, tv, phone) for $100. the internet speed first originally was 10mbps/2mbps. but recently verizon upgraded everybody (everybody that was already using FIOS, idk if it's true for new FIOS users) for free to 15mbps/2mbps.

also, verizon doesn't tell you that the $100 package does not include taxes and other fees. another thing to be aware of is that with the TV package, you need to have a box for each TV, and there's a fee for that...i think it's $8/box. mind you, that's only for the standard def. box. so if you want the HI-DEF box, that fee jumps from those $8 to $12 more per month, per box. here at my house we have 4 boxes, so we're paying an additional $32/mo. for the extra boxes + other fees and taxes that base $100 deal package for us jumps to just under $150/mo.

aside from the cost, the increased speed of my previous 1.5mbps/512kbps DSL for 1/3 of the current cost of the current FIOS package (DSL was $50/mo.) is well worth it. i don't watch much TV, and what TV i do watch is typically discovery, science channel, national geographic, history channel, TLC, and cartoon network/adult swim.

back to the cost, we were paying more for having phone/internet/cable as separate bills by roughly $75 a month even after all the fees included of the current FIOS package so we're still saving some money.
