Loren: I'm gonna have to give you a small list of things to check / clean while you're doing that coil install.

bring over that thing you call PS3......I got a big tv and a kegerator with two taps now. I don't have an RX8, or an interest in doing any maintenance work, but I am willing to be a 3-car garage host, drink beer while playing that PS3 till I get it to have the red rings of death

Loren: I'll teach ya, it's easy.
go to kragen or autozone or some place and get a K&N recharge kit. It comes with a spray cleaner and the oil that goes on the filter.
I've got cans of MAF cleaner.

all you need is a ratchet and a phillips head screwdriver.
the rest is a piece of cake

no need to remove your bumper....that was initially done to install the ram air tube. The air filter will come out the engine side of the air filter box, where the nice blue parts are on the box.

loren: Keith is correct on cleaning out the air filter.
if you look in your engine bay, you just need to remove the rubber MAF tube (this requires an allen key and a phillips head screw driver)
now you'll have more room to work with.

On the back of the intake box are 6 screws, remove with ratchet. (the blue retaining circle now comes off) pull air filter out.

Clean using K&N recharge kit ($10 or $20 at an auto parts store)
Install in reverse order.

Loren, where art thou??!!!

I think I just found you a great deal on coils and wires. BRAND new stuff.
If you haven't ordered them yet, go here: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-sale-wanted-44/fs-new-stock-coils-moroso-ignition-cables-181394/

Just to verify i need coils, wires and plugs. Buying wires and coils from him and then plugs from BHR will be about half the cost then if i went all BHR right? (or esentially this is the cheapest deal i can get).

well, the absolute cheapest price I can find on coils = $31.
That's $124 just on coils

OEM Spark Plug wires are another $60.
At the rate you're getting that stuff, you're in essence only paying $5 more for upgraded wires.

shipping should only be $7-$10. He can probably use a USPS Priority Flat Rate box.

Under $200 is what you'll end up paying.
That's less then half of what you'd pay for the BHR ignition.

You'll still need plugs though so order those right away. You're better off doing this all at once.
