The price drop also does not include wireless or a larger hard drive.

It is a basic system

so, what will this cheaper ps3 have to offer then? how big/small is the HDD? and rglbegl, you said it has no wireless? meaning, it does not support wireless controllers, or there are only wired controllers offered with this ps3?

my questions for this is primarily to purchase a ps3 myself, but i would use it more as a BR player than a console. granted, there would be a couple of games here and there that i would play on it, such as Kill Zone 2.

It comes with a little hard drive, like 20gig
And a normal PS3 has wireless internet.

The controllers will still be wireless, just dont try to tap in to your wireless router with it.

20GB HDD, i'm sure you can still get one installed in there separately like you can with the original style ps3.

and it doesn't have wireless internet? no big deal to me, i'd just use ethernet!

the advertisements I have seen and heard were for the 120 gig PS3......so, if you are in the market to get a PS3, or a BR player, I would suggest researching a bit to confirm which system received the price drop.

no joke dude....I was having that same conversation.

Interestingly, on xbox they had a promotional video prior to the new Madden release, and they were having an interview with one of the developers. The question was asked, if there was a Madden curse, or if he believed in the curse.

There really isn't even a need to have a discussion or debate on whether there is a curse, with the track record of all the past covers, the answer is easy....YES.

The other noteable curse was Sports Illustrated picks in baseball....there top picks rarely, if ever, held true for the season.

Palamalu's injury really was rather nasty to watch man....and to happen on of all things, a blocked field goal. Really makes you wonder why they put some fo the guys they do put on the special teams when there are so many injuries that happen on kicks and kick return.

Just found out from a student I was working with, that the Patriots traded Seymore......another top defensive guy leaving our squad....I'm starting to think all our money is focused towards offense and that this season is going to be like no other, high scoring on both sides of the football. We've had years of no offense and incredible defense, and years of scorching offense and defense....but really haven't had to struggle through a alck of defense since I've been following the Patriots.

Interesting side note....on Cassell, he did not start for the Chiefs yesterday due to a knee injury. Find it amazing that the Patriots got the best out of that deal.

Mcnabb went down in the 3rd quarter for the Eagles yesterday, he isn't on the Madden box is he? Too bad Vick isn't available until week 3.

Yup, Larry Fitzgerald, a wide receiver from the Arizona Cardinals.

you can now take odds on the madden curse...here they are....

http://www.gambling911.com/entertain...ds-091309.html
The article has a good summary of cover players, and the season that resulted.

"""The curse appears to have started in 2002 with consecutive injuries thereafter. Eddie George, who first appeared on the cover in 2001 did not sustain any injury."""

what the Hell Keith! Just read the article, sounds like Seymour was a stud on defense.
I understand wanting to go younger but damn, that sucks.

Paulomalu (sp?) injured his knee. I believe it's an MCL injury that will have him sidelined for up to 6 weeks. (I think)

You weren't alone Loren I didn't watch any football yesterday either.

Not sure if you are aware but the Pats have like 11? first round pics for the 2010 draft, the most for any team. Did seymore ever show up for the Raiders?

I had two birthday parties (my mom and my grandpa -98) and we a pinic like evening in the front yard, and watched a little tennis.

we'll see tonight....he is eligible to play for the Raiders in their game tonight against the Chargers. Good timing if they needed to find some support in their defense against the run....cause they will be up against Tomlinson tonight.

Patriots have the early game...I will be recording it. I beleive Cesar is coming over to watch it, you're more than welcome to come over Loren. We will most likely be starting about 515/530 or so.

Raiders/Chargers have the late game.

Times have really changed lately, it used to be games only on Sundays and one feautred Monday night game....now we have multiple games on Monday night, games during the week, and on Sunday.

Direct TVs "redzone" channel is awsome. I spent the first part of the morning watching that channel. Jumping between games, watching scores and scoring chances...constant football. Only negative is that sometimes it wouldn't stay on a game as it went to replay, or it would jump to a game that just went to time out and commercial. Got to see the Mcnabb injury live, but then it jumped away to another game with his injury timeout....but I wanted to stay on that channel to follow that story.

Keith: I agree, times have definitely changed.
I'm not even THAT big of a football fan but It was always everyone plays on Sunday except for the team that gets the MNF duties.

Then they added Thursday games.
Now I hear they have Friday games?
WTF is up with Multiple games on Monday?

WOW....that was an incredible ending in the Patriot-Bills game.

...and Seymour definately paid his dividends already for the Raiders...damn, it sucked to see him walk off the bus towards the stadium, you could definately tell he was bummed to be facing the reality of going from the Patriots to the Raiders. Amazing job he did for them, having never played with his new teammates and not knowing their defensive schemes.

Keith: grats on the win!
How did Brady look? I read an ESPN article that said he didn't look too good but I figured I'd ask you.

he did well in the second half, when they changed their passing offense to 3-step drop and quick routes. He got his rythm and was actually stepping into his throws.

In the first half, the offense was more balanced between run and pass, and the passing routes selected that first half were 5 to 7 drop routes and he just was getting rushed from the defensive line and was dropped/sacked too many times to get rythm or good mechanics with his throws. What made it worse, was there were a lot of dropped ***** in the first couple series.

I was happy with the performance, sad that we were playing from behind after Bills intercepted and ran back for a touchdown....as we were forced to leave our running game behind as we attempted to play catchup.

12 completions to Moss, 12 to Welker....didn't get Galloway in the game at all, but our tight ends played well...Watson had to last two touchdown catches, on a route that was basically open all night long.

I'm hoping Brady finds his rythm so we can see the Brady of old. I always thought he was an amazing QB and it would be nice to prove the doubters wrong.

there really isnt any chance he won't succeed....the offensive line hasn't seen any changes, and they have the running support that will open up the passing game for Moss, Welker, Galloway and Watson. Lot of talent out there.

I'm just worried about the defense not stopping the other team, and that the Patriot offense will see less and less of the ball. The defense was good last night against the Bills, shutting down their top two receivers, and only being beat on screen plays with the strict coverage to shut down Owens and Lee Evans.

It was a good game plan by both sides actually.
