Keith: you guys dodged a bullet today.
I caught the end of the game and Baltimore was killing you guys on that last drive. If he catches that pass, I think you guys lose the game.

Brady did look much better today, grats on the win and grats on Brady shedding off more of that rust.

Couple comments....but first, yes, that last drive was difficult to watch, and that 4th down pass was an intense moment which saw me fly out of my chair and scream like a crazed madman.....but.

If you watched the entire game, Baltimore was never in the game...don't know what the stats show, as that last drive, and a single 70 yard rushing play may make the game seem closer than it really was. Only reason Baltimore was even close at the end was their defensive touchdown when they sacked Brady and the loose ball ended up in the enzone.

Positives....the offensive coordinator took the pressure off the passing offense by going almost perfectly 50/50 with run and pass. Passing routes looked crisp, but I have to say that it was probably a direct result of having Welker back running the slot routes. Having Welker and Moss, and Ben Watson made instant chemistry.

One big notiable absence, no Joey Galloway...I don't even think he was dressed out...never saw him on the field, or on the sidelines in his uniform. I wouldn't be surprised to see that he was released from the team. High hopes for that guy, but his routes were horrible, and there was just no chemistry there.

Vince Willfork was in the game, holding down the rushing defense, and I saw some very shiny moments from our secondary..something that has been significantly absent from our defense the last 2, 3 years.

The game could have gone either way, given what transpired the last two quarters....one learning moment was how the offensive coordinator handled the drive with 5 minutes left in the game...he could have run out the clock, but rather chose passing routes that only took a minute off the clock and gave the ball back to Baltimore.

Patriots went on 4th down on the 3 yard line...that was a gut check for the team, and an incredible call that worked in our favor. They also tried a trick play on a punt, which resulted in a motion penalty, but really was amazing to see tried.

enough Patriot talk....till next week

keith: like I said earlier, I only caught the ending so it appeared to be close.
I was at brunch with Emilie and the game was on in the bar @ Marie Callender's.

I started watching when the Pats went for some trick play but I couldn't hear the call so I wasn't sure why the play didn't count. Now it makes sense.

ok two more points.....

One, next week is against Denver, at Denver (they are 4-0), which will match up the Patriots against their previous offensive coordinator, who left the team at the end of last season to take the head coach position in DEnver.

Two....found an interesting article on Joey Galloway titled
"Patriots journal: Galloway's absence could mean his departure is near"

article here if interested:

I'm really getting sick of this 'retiring then coming back then retiring then un-retiring" BS!

@Kwescott/Lesper4 -
Thanks for the reply. I may have figured out an alternative method for what I want to do.

In the world of education, I've heard that all districts are going into negotiations with Teacher Unions with an offer of 11% reduction in pay. This is a state mandate given the reduction in money being made available to districts from the state. This is the same state who is now taking an additional 10% in taxes out of your pay checks. Our paychecks will see this for the first time in October. .....and I don't remember voting on any of that?

Those who work for state positions already are having to deal with furlow days.

My mother, who is a teacher, stated that they are trying to fight for furlow days rather than the 11% reduction in pay, because the fear is that an 11% reduction in pay will never be made up in the future.

Honestly, I think furlow days are the best....salary will be affected because there will be fewer days of work, but I think this will make a larger impact on families in general.....as they will see the direct impact on teachers, because there will be no school on Fridays....rather than taking an 11% pay cut and working the same number of days (which no one will even realize unless you are a teacher or know someone who is).

Families are already creating debate, as they complain their children will not have day care (their term for school...nice huh), and will not have access to free breakfast and lunch programs. Families complain, "what will we do with our chidlren if they are not in school every Friday?"

Teachers already make no money, so dropping pay by 11% means that people will leave, and that vacant positions will be filled by brand new teachers, or those who are in credentialing programs and who may have no teaching experience.

...oh, I just received my property tax bill, which had a 641 dollar elementary school bond, and a 317 dollar college bond......at least out sewers are not bursting, and we have beautifully manicured parkways and parks.

...and Obama-san wants to increase the school year to match school years in Asia.....but with no adjustment of salaries for those who will be working a longer work year, or any additional budget changes to ccount for operating costs for having buildings open for more of the year.

Yeah, go team.

they want to increase the school year?! wtf!
granted the Asian school systems are 'in school' much more then us but simply adding more days isn't going to put us on the same level as them.

crazy times we find ourselves in...

^ funny

All those school assocaited bonds keep me in business, vote yes! (although i am paying for it too). And with no raises or bonus the last two years and taxes going up all over the place it is going to hurt.
