It'd be great if you could remove it. I think that would be a good option.
Although, some people have plenty of money and would gladly buy 2 just to have 1 in the car.
The picture I saw was a Toyota Tundra that they installed it on. It looked permanent.

Cesar: I just saw the video of that install a bit ago and it looked like a permanent install.
P.S. it was a Tacoma, not a Tundra.

New racing team...new RX-8 race car! (derived from video games, kind of). Too bad one of the drives is not a video games only.

OK so the Protege5 needs new front rotors and new front pads. Anyone think I should be able to do this myself? I got a quote of $296 for economy parts and $361 for premium parts (+$25 off). I also have a 20% dealer discount for a break job but that may still be more yet. I can get decent parts at tirerack for $142+ shipping and tax and then do the work myself. Previously though I had a hard time taking the pads off so I had a shop do it but that should be the hardest part as the rotors are eaiser after that? I could probabley do all the work myself for the same price and come away with an air compressor and or jack.
Any suggestions?

Never mind...I wasnt able to find a air compressor system to handle the load of power driven tools for a decent price. Some point I will bite the bullet.

Call Autozone. Get a price for pads and rotors.
Buy a large bottle of Brake Fluid
2ft of 1/8" heater hose
Buy a $10 brake pad spreader like this
If the rotors are stuck, you'll need an impact screwdriver. I bought mine at Harbor Freight for about $10. Looks like this -
I can help you do the brakes and bleed them if needed.
All that and you should have a good chunk of money left over to put towards your air compressor.

I did replace the front rotors on my 8, the experience was not that bad. The hardest part for me was getting on rotor off on the drivers side. (some times parts get stuck) Pretty easy I must say and it was less than a couple of hours to do it.

We have an outdoor range here (free BLM land), but RX-8's wont make it out the dirt road.
If we do go, I have a few nice toys to bring
